What got my attention was that there were two of the same picture. I thought it might be a PG version of the newspaper puzzle where you have to find the differences between two cartoons. And, I still don't get a date with either one, because I say neither of those amps. Besides, she would undoubtedly be thoroughly disappointed, and I would hate to do that to her. Either of her.

Maybe they were twins

Is this where we post a reminder that this particular sub-forum of TalkBass is an accepting non-judgmental space where we don't shame people because of their ethnicity, skin tone, gender, sexuality, shape, size, dress, or our personal perceptions/preconceptions of 'morality'?

I'm re-quoting this for clarity, well said.

It's my day off and I know you all can take good care of each other as I tend to my modest castle.
Respect for each other and minding what we all post is always worth considering, we don't realize it but, I can assure you (yikes, my inner Colonel Klink) that the TB moderators visit our thread and all forum rules apply here.

I feel bad for the TB Mods that have to go through this thread on a busy day.

You shouldn't express an opinion if you don't want one in return.
I didn't say you couldn't have an opinion.

As I recall, you're the one who said I shouldn't express my opinion of the video maker's (crappy) technique.

And I say nuts to that.

@Sartori - could you point me to one or more YouTube demos that demonstrate a Ric tone well? Maybe one comparing a 4003 to 4004 ?
(PM me if that is more appropriate. I would have asked in that other thread but it's been locked.)

Never touched one, genuinely interested in hearing one properly demoed.
(I'm Zero chance of getting one at Oz prices. :))
LRRG's bass covers of various songs are good sounding.

Do you use the upright in your band? Dude, that's an incredible level of badass. Right on man.

I follow you on the overdrive; I like natural high-gain grit and rarely turn my gain low enough to not get at least a little gritty unless I'm super feathery on my attacks.
I recorded upright parts for both albums.

On the first they're quite hard to hear. They'll be a bit more prominent on the second.

The main bass used on the first album was a heavily modified Peavey.

I'm assuming you mean this is based entirely on your opinion, and not some objective "rule" of what technique should be. Ultimately, who cares what someone else's technique is? We're electric bass players! We took an instrument that was originally designed to be played with our thumb, and turned that on its head and started using flingers, picks, our thumbs and fingers to slap the damn things. It's all technique based on whatever the individual wants.
It's pretty commonly understood that extreme wrist angle while playing leads to more stress on your joints and so forth. That's what makes it bad technique... that it can lead to damage.

Also given how crap his tone is, it's not surprising.

Yes.

TBH Michael, her plumbing arrangements are none of my business and I didn't give it a moment's thought.
Exactly.

None of anyone's business, as a matter of fact.

I have the guitar sized TB+ in a couple of basses and really like them. Seem to have a more aggressive (and maybe clearer) output. Here is a comparison that has been posted before:

Cool audio sample, thanks for posting! I'd definitely say my Silverburst sounds very similar to the Les Paul, really cool sound. Interesting to hear the contrast between it and the Gibson bird. I'm assuming maybe the Chinabuckers would be a little brighter and clearer than the Gibson bird but not as bright as the Les Paul?

I can't comment on the Chinabuckers as I have never tried them. To my ears none of my 3 Gibson Birds sound as muffled as the one in the clip but when I had an LP Standard bass it sounded like the LP in the video. As with all basses there are nuances that make them all sound different even to their similar siblings.

Yeah... I know when I'm lookin' for the marryin' type, I always keep my eyes toward the side of the road, watchin' for a trashy female spreadin' her legs across the front of a cop car. You can always trust them to exercise good judgment;)
Dudes referring to women as "females" always make me think of this:

If I was going to have a dog .. and that's a BIG if ... a Golden Retriever would be high on the list of acceptable breeds. Probably a Whippet or Border Collie would be the winner though.
Yeah, Labradogs, Gold Retrievers are always high on my list. Though Beagles, French Bulldogs, Irish Terriers and the like are on my hit parade. Oh ad the Jack Russell Eddie like in Frasier. :)

But no more pets for me after this little one departs. Saying that I've probably just guaranteed I'll get another!

Well after 2 years of full on looking after my mum she is having to go to a nursing home next week as we can no longer give the level of care she needs (getting towards 24 hours a day now). Not a nice feeling letting your mother be taken away despite it being for the best; it will be even stranger being able to do things again without having to find cover for her, going to take a bit of time to readjust.

So after all that there I'll be jobless and skint, we'll have to sell the house and buy somewhere smaller. I'm unlikely to get another job at my age so I will resurrect my tools and get making some stuff again, what will depend on the size of workshop I can get but hopefully furniture of a limited size and a bass or two if I can find any market.
