You can put a washer under the nut. It will give you a bit more.Setup related question.
What are the options if a truss rod runs out of thread? I put a quarter turn on the Epi the other day, it turned quite easily and it improved quite a bit. It's not there yet though. I put a bit more on it but it seems pretty tight and I suspect that's all there is. Options?

Really tough. But, as you note, she needs care from more than one person. And while it seems like a small consolation, how cool that they let her have her furry companion. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate. But don't be a stranger. It is always cool to see the blue VW van in our neighborhood! Thanks all, yes it's a crap deal but it really is for the best. The only thing that bugs me is that she does get the occasional good hour or two where she "appears" to be normal and very aware of life but it doesn't last long and then she is very vulnerable again and beyond my care skills but for those short moments it seems a very cruel thing to do. The home she's going to seems very nice and they will let her take her cat which would have been the hardest blow otherwise.
I really like that color.I am late to the party on cat pics but tardiness be damned. Here are my two furry paperweights in the train wreck I call my office.

And how about the cool color on this Lull bass? They call it Candy Apple Orange. I think that the world needs more basses in this color!

Having almost exclusively played Thunderbirds for the past six years, I'm in a quandary about what my next beast will be. I love the sound of the Epi vintage bird, and if they are released in the UK I would snap one up in a flash. However, there is no sign of that happening in the near future, so I'm starting to think about other options...
I played a Fender Mexican Jaguar (full scale) bass at my local guitar shop a while ago and really liked it - a nice slim neck, not far from my classic pro, and a nice, tight punchy tone. This would cost a tiny bit more than the likely cost of the vintage pro. On the other hand, I've just seen an immaculate Ric 4003s available from a shop not far from here for £1375. This is considerably more than the Epi would likely cost, but it's one of my dream basses and (almost) affordable on 2 year finance. So the big question is do I hold out for the vintage pro, go to Fender world, or live the dream and go for the ric? Both of the second two options would mean me going down to one bird as the boss is very hot on the one-in-one-out policy I agreed with her many years ago, so the Tokai would have to be sold.
What would you guys do?

This is just my opinion here (which has some age and life experience built in). First, I too always wanted a Ric--got one and it wasn't as magical as I imagined and the magic wore off. They are interesting and people either love them or hate them, and a few in between. Make sure you play the thing a lot before you throw down that kind of money. They play and feel like nothing else I recall playing. Not particularly pleasant if you love other feels, but they are light. If yo like the feel of a T-bird or J-bass kind of neck--the Ric it an entirely different animal (wide). The positive is you can generally sell them for the cash used price you paid if you take care of it.
Second, don't go in debt for something you don't have to have. Many do it in many situations and then wonder why they never have any money. Some things you need to pay to use other people's money--most things you don't--and an extra bass just doesn't seem like one of those necessary things (unless it's going t make you a ton of money). You may hate me for saying it, but follow that advice and you'll thank me later, and likely have more basses you own and not half own through the years. If you want something like that, start planning and saving. Most of the time you'll find you really don't need it after all before you get all the money on hand. Feel free to disregard the free advice. I'm just trying to help a brother out long-term.
Take your time and look around. You are seem to be in no necessary rush. There are many fantastic basses out there. Many you may not have considered. I just know I've bought a few I thought I had to have and after a short time they stopped having the draw and I was dissatisfied and looking for something else. If possible rent a bass if you can for a couple months if at all possible. That may confirm you really want it or you want to keep looking.
Elvira, my parent's black lab mutt and Chewie their mini yorkie. Haven't seen them in a while since I moved across the country for work.A little equal time for the dog lovers. Named Mistin Rain because it wasn't very nice weather when we got her. It's much better than Hey-you-with-the-tail-on-your-butt that she started out with.
