Thunderbird Club

Hi guys, My band Who's That a tribute to the music of The Who finally has some usable video, problem is that I can't seem to share is from my phone I would really appreciate it if you guys stopped by Facebook to check it out. We concentrate on live versions of the songs taken from Live at Leeds, Isle of Wight, Young Vic etc. My rig for the night Hiwatt DR201 powering the 2150 cabinet and Hiwatt DR103 powering the 4123 cabinet . The 4123 was mixed with a Sure SM 57 no direct input. Bass of choice my beat 66 Thunerbird II. If anyone can post the videos directly here I'd be greatfull. Thanks!
Man... even with the poor audio quality, that tube-driven T-bird tone drives it home!!!

Tell me you guys play "Young Man Blues" from Live at Leeds...

Fix, where are you getting your intel from?
Can't find jack on any of it.

Isn't it "Sloped" instead of "Sloved".

It might even be sloped dovetail... but I kinda like Sloved Dovewing - it could be a colourful character in a detective novel ... "The gold letters on the fogged glass door read Slove Dovewing, Private Eye - I had come to the right address"

You lot are SO fickle! Yesterday it was all the Vintage Pro and now you're all drooling over supposed new Gibsons! Ooh SHINY! Well, I'm still holding out for an Epiphone, so there!

Actually, a new Gibson would be seriously outside my price range, the Epi is far more realistic. Just need to know how good those pickups really are - and that's what has me a little on edge atm.

I'm holding out for the same lot to buy up lots of 'em and then eventually sell me one at a reduced price because I'm a skinflint. Plus, I already have a flock of 'Birds and can't quite get to the point of buying a new one when I already have a bunch of 'em I like just fine. But...

OOOOOH! Shiny!

Alumitones are the antithesis of ThunderBuckers. I bought one of the first ones on the market around 2009 when I was building this "Ergo Ultra" six pounder. Very clean, modern tone. Not a bad thing, just not Birdlike IMO.

That's a good description of them. They are piezo-like, except no piezo honk though certain amps that have problems with piezos. They are also height sensitive in an odd way - raise them and the get more scooped. Lower them and they fatten up a bit. I think they are perfect on a fretless, and I like them very much in the Zombiecaster, because that's a guitar and it goes through all kinds of shiny boxes that make it sound like something else anyway.

I'm expecting the new pickups to sound quite good. If not very good. I mean, Epiphone made a metallic grey/silver bird a few years ago with mini-humbuckers, which have like 90% of the tone of the vintage pickups. So if they are actually doing reproductions, as this new product suggests, I think these are gonna be good.

You can hear that gray/silver epiphone compared, in this video:
