No thanks, about the "reporting back" aspect.
It's a shame how some "Thunderbird" fans represent themselves, you included.
I clearly stated no dis-respect for Gibson/epi.
I don't care to babble about vintage etc and the great T-Birds of the past.
I thought it was an interesting offer I posted, how Japanese builders of quality "honored" an iconic American shape with their builds, and I hear drivel by a 2nd-Class Indy builder about too many knobs on "Nipponese" basses.

You can take back your wonderful pride about this club, at least for some of the lot. Others- they respond with maturity and courtesy- Good on them.

I clearly stated (2 or 3X I think) I don't prefer that build- But I know the quality of that bass, & would gladly order one in a different finish if I chose to do so.
No offense taken; I don't own that bass (sadly) it wasn't my build to defend!

When you feel you've reached the status and competency of the "Nipponese" basses I've listed & own, please let me know.
I'll be sure to ignore you.
Tone is subjective, I get amazing tone from a $300 Dano bass I own.
Build quality is not.

Posts like yours darken anything T-Bird.

I haven't gotten to play a Cataldo bass but I sure would like to. I can't comment on the quality of build because I have never held one but they sure look good to me.
Not bashing your basses either. The important thing is to play whatever bass moves you.
I won't mention the very popular bass I play in this thread. :bag: For sure I wouldn't knock Tbirds though. No doubt there is a good reason so many people here love those basses.

OK I went too far. I did once win a trophy participating in a golf tournament though. Most honest player award:laugh: seriously!. I shot something like 158:roflmao:. I think my hair weighed me down ya know?, its a fast sport.......yaaaaaawwnnn....:sleep:

B, do indeed block him. I did a little while back and it has made things more enjoyable. I also wouldn't give him a plug nickel for anything he built strictly because of his attitude. He promptly let me know my money or business wouldn't be missed and I take pleasure in knowing I haven't bought that into his b/s.

Active pickups I have tried in the past have sounded 'sterile' or maybe 'hi-fi' or clean and 'full range' - the Epi pups sounded 'shut in' and simultaneously lacked bottom or high end sparkle, while also sounding mid-scooped.

I completely agree with @D.M.N.'s point about output not being the be all and end all, but you would expect that active electronics would have more 'go' in them.

Anyway it's a lovely bass now, with no original parts apart from the wood, TRC, PG, control cavity cover and some screws, for an all up cost of $USD700-ish.

Pre Bushfire Season burn offs.

They do them when it's cooler in order to reduce the "fuel" available when it is hotter. Bit like an inoculation, have a bit now and reduce the severity of the real one when it comes through.
