There's an analogous procedure we could try out on you, although in your case it probably wouldn't make a vas deferens. Wait there while I decide whether I'm gonna use the soup spoon, the dessert spoon, or the screwdriver.

Back to 'Bird content. The Telebird and P-Bird are getting sealer today. I don't have time to start the finishing, but at least I can get a bit done and let it dry until I get back in town and have a bit more time. Someday. At any rate, there's clearly a huge difference between the generic Telebird body and Lowe Custom P-Bird body. Brad supplied the body for Chris's double P-Bird as well. Now, the big question is whether I will screw it up in the finishing process. It's going to be red, and I hope it comes out transparent. Since I don't know what I'm doing with the materials I'm using just yet, the Telebird goes first to see how the finish works. It will probably end up with about a zillion coats, since I'll have just a little pigment in each coat. I don't want it too bright, either, so I got some green pigment to put in to tone down the red if it's too much. I don't want Katbird red, more a moodier blood red. Because I'm an emo kinda guy, y'know.
So, what does the pigment sound like? I dunno yet.

At the moment I have neither the money nor the inclination to have the amp set up for KT88s. The reputedly wonky autobias circuit was removed by a previous owner. If KT88s are your thing, then the YBA200-2 is the obvious choice (no autobias either).

I'm a cretin who likes transistors for bass. More clean headroom is better, which makes me an outlier around here.
??? Oh, you mean valves! Why didn't you say so? As stated previously, 4 x 6550 plus 2 x ECC83 and 1 x ECC82.

Translation is a good thing. When you get your semi-breve crossed up with your KT88 and a pint, it's always tragic.

As I'm sure I've said before I'd be up for a Marshal 2099 100W head. Dunno what's going on with them that they have a 8Ω/4Ω switch on the back. Well you can see what's going on but the question is why?
Marshall's, sometimes, instead of having different output jacks for 4Ω and 8Ω they just have a switch.
But it's a solid state amp ... then you look at the schematic.

Honestly I didn't look at the schematic first. But would help if they had a model number because I only know of 2 bass series made by Marshall, the all tube Amps out of the 70's era (Think Lemmy), and the MB series out of the late 2000's early 2010's (years may be off but you get the point). I have an MB150 combo and it's a hybrid amp. I think they made just a head as well but I think it's a 400 Watt. Only reason I think it's a amp head is because the various Ohm settings instead of a set resistance.
Unless they made another bass amp that I'm missing and someone else knows about.

If you refer to them as "valves" around here... the listener is first confused & has no idea what you're talking about, then moves on to thinking you'e a snooty pretentious a-hole when he/she figures out yer talking' about "tubes".
