Pretty sweet, Showdown! Seemed like everyone was playing at an appropriate level too... kudos to the drummer for keeping it down low enough for everyone to be heard.

for the 'Bird lovers ..... Here's a version we just recorded for an old song from a classic brazillian heavy metal band from the 80's ..... hope you like this angry Bird!
Thanks. We have to work at keeping the volume down to keep the neighbors happy, and the drummer is very good at it. A lot of drummers have trouble playing at low volume.
The drummer, lead guitar player and I also have a hard rock band where we all get to play loud, so we get our fix once a week.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought that pick guard looked "wrong".
Well, that hole kind of gave it away. Generally, most Gibson 'Bird pick guards run a couple of millimetres from the actual edge of the horn. That thing is almost 2.5 cms from the edge.

Curt at the HOG found 2013 Pelham blue NR Thunderbird in the basement . I sold the first one I bought, not a bad bass just not a whole lot in common with a 60s. Seeing as I consulted on these I decided to take the plunge again

Hey guys, I'm currently in the process of fixing up my Epi Tbird IV (which was my first bass, but i'll save pictures until after it's playable again 
). Anyone able to let me know if the Epi birds use long or short shaft pots?

Pictures as promised! Well I could hardly pass it up for the price! They only made 400 of them and I doubt I'll ever see Gibson enter these waters again. I have it all set up super low action. For now the only change I am going to make is sort out the controls, I'll even live with the black hardware. I plan on giving it some stage time as a back up, I have not had a modern Thunderbird onstage in years, I'd like to be able to fully review the bass in it's stock form. maybe at some pint I'll chrome it out and put a Thunderbucker in the neck position.

Finally caught up on 20 pages of TBird news.
Been flat out with the run up to Xmas and the band went four piece- ie one guitarist, me, drummer and singer- we lost our keys/second guitar. We decided to leave it that way for a while and see how it went. Lots of work rejigging songs and set list for the December shows, which went well. Very different playing bass without the extra noise of the keys/ second guitar. More space and and need to fight the urge to fill it with more notes. It's a long time since I have played in this format.
I see we are all telling a bit about ourselves.
I am 57 and recently retired. Worked for about 37 years for the Australian public service in education and social services. I am married and have two daughters and a son, who plays guitar in the band. Four grandchildren. We live near Noosa in Southern Queensland. Just a glorious place to be. I started playing bass in rock bands when I was 17. Lot's of Sydney pub rock from the mid 70s. Had a break when family came along in the mid 80s. Got back into it about 10 years ago- so glad I did. I love basses and have quite a few- a number of vintage Gibsons but I do have and use some of the "other" brands. My gig rig is a GK Fusion 550 with GK Neo 410. I also have an old 1975 100W Bassman, which I only use at home these days.
