Thunderbird Club

Nah Jeff, chrome (or nickel) is the correct choice in almost all circumstances.
I'm committed to go that path Kat.
Besides, the Hipshot is already on and the other parts arrived yesterday at my office.
I like bling anyway. I use this analogy when it comes to a mean looking bass compared to a softer more traditional look. I quote from The Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen, "I don't want to be mean, I want to be dainty".

I disagree - chrome/nickel looks out of place on a white `bird (IMO). I like the look of black hardware on the white `bird. My white bird has all black hardware, black beauties, white strap with black tailpiece, and I am swapping out the tophats with chrome inserts for plain black tophats that go to 11.

The burst can go either way. The ebony looks great with chrome/nickel.

Thank you to everyone that offered advice and opinions on the volume and tone for my Blackbird. I took it in yesterday and we talked at great length about all the options as I understood them. At this point he's going to do two 500k in parallel for the pickup and a 500k with a .022 cap for the tone and the knobs will be in the classic Thunderbird arrangement.

Nothing in this configuration is particularly special but it should get me exactly what I'm looking for and if/when I'm ready to try the parallel/series switching push pull tone knob all the holes will be where I need them.

Says he's going to re-satin the neck for me, never had that done before. I feel so fancy now...

Thank you once more for all the advice and information, I'll post here when I get it back.

Good luck being dainty rockin' an angry piano! ;) :bassist:

I think white looks good with either chrome or black, but black pops more against the white and seems to add another dimension to the look to my eyes. The chrome makes it look more old school in a good way. actually I think all three finishes (white, ebony, burst) look good with either hardware but chrome really pops on the ebony. If I get the new Epi it will have to be in ebony. Probably because it will remind me of my 76 model that I still kick myself for selling 25 years after the fact.

Will be rockin' my longest partner in crime ('64 T-bird) at 2:00 this afternoon with my band "The Sean Conneries" at our local music-centric tavern called Winters here in sunny coastal Pacifica. It's Fog Fest weekend (a celebration of the summer fog going away) and the whole area is in hyper party mode. Played last night there with Bond Girl to a raucous crowd who had been partying all day - they should be waking up in time to catch us along with a hair-of-the-dog headache tonic! Will post pics later.

Pics would be great. The gig stuff you post is always a treat JIO.

I believe the bird in question is an Epiphone limited edition in TV Silver...

THANK GOD there's another human who has seen that movie!!! I've only met one other person who's seen it... and that was the guy who showed it to me! I've only been able to talk 2 people into watching it with me, & both of them had to be talked out of calling the nuthouse on my behalf when it was over. It seems people's taste/tolerance for the absurd, just ain't what it used to be:rollno:

Gives you a little insight to my madness.
