I suppose you could always have a Birdseye or flame maple vinyl wrap applied to the rosewood neck to get it through customs. But I wouldn't want to see the ramifications of thumbing your nose at the law, could get ugly.

In the thread that the member posted about that situation, someone replied about it, and mentioned the wood type used as something else, but i don't think it was Bubinga.
But according to a search i did, Rickenbacker confirms your statement Fix.
Wish i could find the thread to see what he had mentioned.
Caribbean Rosewood was mentioned by the seller, not restricted.
Sounds like somebody either figured out that there was "extra" money to be made with the importing/exporting of rosewood, or was scrambling to prove there was a need for their job

Funny thing about maple. I was using maple drumsticks for a while because they are a little lighter than hickory. They seemed nice and hard too. I wasn't chewing into the wood on the edges of cymbals near as bad on those sticks as the usual hickory. Then two of them shattered in a short period of time. And I remembered about maple baseball bats shattering in a way ash doesn't. I'm back to using hickory drumsticks. That's got nothing to do with anything, but there it is.

In the die-cast and slot car world, legitimate companies do something similar with the old Le Mans Porsche 962's and Jag's that had cigarette sponsors, which is now illegal to promote. The real decals were covered by a cheap decal, just racing stripes, that could be removed with masking tape. It was really odd when I saw an off duty cop in the hobby store, that I spent a lot of time at when I was younger, had the owner do that for him. Wasn't illegal but definitely felt odd.

So how does that Epiphone vintage pro with those 760 pickups stack up to the real thing? Is it worth grabbing one of those in addition to what I have already? My other thought was I might throw some Mike Lull pickups in my Epi, which is about the same price as a new one of these. So either upgrade the pickups of the one I have now or potentially buy the new vintage pro.

They now have an expected date of 12/15, so i was told.
Yes. The wife is still adjusting after having a nearly catastrophic life incident, but it's her birthday and Im making her favorite meal, and Im going to pour delicious wine for her, give her a foot massage, and watch cat videos until she stops thinking about all the crap that has happened over the last month. But luckily we sustained no damage and life is somewhat back to normal. It's a good time right now and Im incredibly thankful.

All things considered, it sounds like you're doing pretty well. I know it's gotta be something horrible to get past, but it sounds like your wife's in good hands!

I spoke with Aaron at Sweetwater yesterday.
He didn't have any new information and said "Still could be October, but this is driven by Epiphone." I asked if it was possible that they'd know if the container was at least on the water? He said sometimes the instruments just show up and they don't really get advance notice.
Basically, nothin'
So I guess we should expect the supposed 2018s in 2020?
If the containers are on the water its gonna be at least 6 weeks out to get to a dock, then its gotta go to distribution then to dealers, we are looking at December...ugh...
