The Lulls are the only pickups that Iv'e heard in person. I love them to death but I don't have that kind of scratch for a set of pickups right now.

I hear you - my version is the Darkstar pu's. I have the pricy Novak's in a couple of my custom basses and they are awesome as expected. I also have the affordable Guild version in a couple basses and they sound great also. There is the difference of a major company producing them (Guild/Fender) and an independent maker producing them (Novak) which accounts for the final result (and price), but in my specific case it has more to do with string-width. The Guild is narrow spaced, and Novak offers both narrow and wide spaced. The Novak 'wide spaced' Darkstar fits a Fender P spacing. The Guild is closer to a T-bird spacing. So if a Fender style - the Novak is the only choice, but with a narrower neck - why pay more? However, the Lull $80 surrounds and $12 for shims seems overpriced.

I seem to recall Carlo saying that Thunderbuckers have a satisfaction guarantee - If you don’t like them in anyway, you can return them for a refund, which may be worth considering...

Decided against the Lull pickups. I Just can't justify spending nearly 600.00 on pickups, which is what it would be:
240.00 for each pickup
80.00 for ring surrounds (this was a ridiculous upcharge IMO)
12.00 for the shims

So I am thinking about going with Lollar or the Seymour Duncan custom shop Tbird pickups. Leaning towards Lollar though.

That’s one advantage of having Thunderbird IIs - $USD200 (for a single ThunderBucker) doesn’t seem like that much in the grand scheme, whereas $USD400 (for two) is more like serious money (nearly the price of a new Epi).

Wow that is a lot. I just ordered some Thunderbuckers last Friday for about 100 bucks cheaper.

Yep, thirty days money back except for shipping...plus you can talk directly to Steve and discuss what sound you're looking for and he'll explain the options.

AFAIK no one else supplies ring screws and the proper pickup screws at no extra charge. That always pissed me off about pickup makers who expect you to hunt down the proper screws for THEIR product.

So we did that...and you don't have to use the common round top Fneder style screws. There's a difference, these don't tear up your fingers, the cover holes are countersunk so they lie flush. Twice the price of generics and a little extra effort but worth it.

Steve's rings have the proper (larger) 60s outside radius. So do Lulls but Steve uses the correct Gibson size screws. Everyone else sells rings that have the 70s smaller radius. Small detail but important IMO.

Nice bird, have the same one myself, as well as the VS version (because you can't have enough birds). Hope it serves you well, as mine has for me.

This is completely off-topic, but am I the only one having problems viewing and loading these pages with the Safari browser on Macs, iPad and iPhone lately?

Pages either won't load or take a pretty long time to load. And when done loading the pages are either frozen or haven't loaded all content - This however is not consistent, as at other times things work.

iPad has been updated to latest IOS, but my iPhone hasn't and Safari on my Mac is the previous version (10.1.2).

This is actually home with my wireless... Basestation has been restarted a few times without improving - Also other pages seem to load fine, as did TB with Chrome on my iPad earlier today, when Safari kept freezing up.

No problems here. Safari on my MacBook is v. 10.1.1
If it's only problematic at home, try restarting your WiFi router and/or modem
