Excuse my naivety. Couldn’t you just carefully remove the nut and reset it the other way around ?

Man, I've been so slammed, haven't been here in quite a while. I Wana see!It seems like you keep yourself pretty busy. Were you around to see or hear about @BklynKen and his latest reversal? If not... maybe he'd post a pic for ya. It's a kinda big deal (or at least it is in MY opinion)...

I have to agree on the SVT. I've heard other people sound just dandy with them, but I can't get along with them. I've always described them as sounding like they have a wet blanket over them. Like they're a bit muffled. They certainly have mids and grunt, but lack the high end sparkle I want. Now, I haven't had the opportunity to play an SVT through anything besides the accompanying 8x10, so that very well could be part of it, coming from the clarity and brightness of JBLs. There's also this sort of...rubberiness? It's something in the upper mids I think, something I can't quite put my finger on, but all I can describe it as is this sort of rubber band sound. Overall, and this may be due to the fact that they've become this ubiquitous measuring stick, they just sound really bland to me, generic.
Nope. A fender type yes but the regular type are tapered in height (that can be fixed) but they have a flat side and an angled side. Have to get a new one this time. Plus I just gotta have brass!
Depends how the nut is cut, but most likely no. Most nuts are rounded on the headstock side along with angled, to help with the break angle.
The space is coming from Japan so it could take up to a couple weeks to get in the meanwhile I want to find an order a replacement nut instead of waiting 2 weeks measuring it and then ordering it and holding myself up even longer once I get a new base I'm really anxious to get all the parts together and get it assembled. For now I'm just going to replace the parts until I decide what I'm going to do regarding a refinish

... yeah... ok... that's what I meant to say)! From this pic... it kinda looks like he might could do that. It doesn't appear to be directional, like a Gibson...Wuddya think @wolfkeller ... is it flippable?

The lack of high end is mostly the cab, I think. There was no such lack through my 2x15 or through my friend's 4x12.
There is a certain springiness to the sound. Well, at least when I play. I like it, though.
But I've heard them sound really bad, too, because while you can get a ton of different sounds out of that preamp, not all of them are usable.
Brass I don't like due to its tendency to bind. I'd refit all my basses with graphite nuts if I could be bothered, but I'm just too lazy, lol.

Also, out of curiosity, how difficult do all you thing it would be mounting a 1st gen Tele bass pickup inside a 'Bird pickup cover? I'm thinking just cutting foam to make sure it seats snuggly and attaching with silicone?
Assuming the outside dimensions of the tele pup and the inside of the Bird cover are alright, the mounting holes may cause the biggest problem… if you can set it so the holes in the cover aren’t being blocked by the tele pup you should be alright. Someone more knowledgeable should be along at some point with more info.

Exactly my thoughts. I think the Tele pup mounting holes are typically 3.112" apart at center, and the T-bird covers are 3.28" at center, so I may have so either modify the tele pickup or mount it at an angle so the screws miss.
I've never had an issue with brass on my Spectors and I have one on a fender. Had to do alot of sanding on the "exact fit" from the eBay guy. It was 3x too tall. I use heavy strings, I use the extra string length past the nut to "file" the slots to fit the string.
