Crown Vics were pretty fast for such a big car. Of course, the cop ones always had the biggest engines they came with. My parents had a '95 T-bird with the same engine, and that thing could really go.

But it got to the point where at night I could recognize the exact shape of Crown Victoria headlights in the rear view mirror.

I miss those days, remember when you could look in your rear view mirror at night and you knew exactly what you were seeing?. My buddy's and I were almost never wrong but since the late eighties and more specifically now I cant tell what the hell Im looking at daytime or night time. And when Sartori starts chiming in on vehicle conversations I think the world has slightly shifted off axis

The local police departments kept using Crown Vics until the last few years. It's really annoying because now I have to watch out for a bunch of different headlight patterns. Ugh.

It is easy to tell when there is a cop behind me. The highway is empty, there are flashing red and blue lights all around, a helicopter overhead, and a guy in the back seat speaking on a cell phone to CNN live on the air.

And, about 300 pages back, I mentioned that musicians are flakes and a band that was going to play after one of the bands I play in flaked. The venue asked if we had any leads. Hell yeah, we have leads on bands. I play in two more who would play. But, they found somebody else too fast. Crap. I could have been nice to the upright for a set, then slap it around for a set, all in one night, but in different bands. That would have been fun but it was not to be. Snooze ya loose. It took me just a bit too long to get confirmations from everyone.

There's a reason I don't want to be in charge.

Heck, I have an SUV that'll go faster than that, maybe not as quick to max speed but it'll do 175mph without a problem. On a closed non public track of course.

I'm there faster, and slow back down faster. 0-100-0 in not very much even though coming down is probably all front wheel. Low mass is its own reward. Bikes usually walk away from cars on the track when you are comparing lap times, but it's all about the acceleration rate. Four wheels generally get around corners just a bit faster. Not as much fun though. The geometry of a cage is all fecaktered up with what body english wants to do.
