ThunderBuckers were commissioned to be exact clones of the pickups that have sounded great since '63. I own around eight originals.
63 ThunderBuckers sound exactly like the pickups in this bass, my '64 IV.

66s were cloned from my Embassy pups. They're the same as NR spec. Basically Gibson used the bridge pickup from the Reverse and put it in the neck position and wound a hotter bridge pickup when they switched to chrome cans.
Next step with ThunderBuckers was the 'S' which is a hotter wind than a 66 B and MAX which has as much wire as you can wind on a TBird bobbin and hotter mags.
