I love the Surfers!, ever since back when Locust Abortion Technician came out. I love everything they have ever done even the radio stuff is way too cool to be radio worthy. My favorite album will always be Hairway To Steven. These guy's were a massive influence on me. I like your style Dude
Right back at ya! Totally. I saw them live in a club in 1989 and then Lollapalooza in 1991. So good.

Wow, and I thought Independent Worm Saloon was accessible.
Edit: I don't remember Gibby having a shotgun. This was in NJ, for what that's worth. Worst thing about that show was that Siouxsie and the Banshees canceled because Siouxsie was sick. I was really looking forward to seeing them again. But I got to see Body Count.
I saw them two or three times. The band I was in opened for the Surfers in Richmond Virgina. That was when they had the large, female dancer who shot ping pong balls...don't ask how or from where.
They also used medical films projected on to the band and on screen behind them. The one they showed of a male to female gender reassignment operation made a lot of people REALLY uncomfortable. In fact I remember a person or two fainting...
Damn!,I am so in awe right now!. You opened for them not once but three times! Most in fn' credible!. What genre of music did your band play?.

No only opened for them once, in Virginia. That was in 88' or 89'? I saw them around 87' or 88' at a club in Philadelphia called Revival and finally saw them a third time while I was working in a club (The Trocodero) also in Philadelphia. That was the tour where Gibby had the shotgun.
Funnily enough I was in Austin last week for work and had a short conversation with a record store worker about the copy of "Creamed Corn From the Socket of David" on yellow vinyl that I sold to help pay off my college debt.
I was in a band call Electric Love Muffin (from Philadelphia) we had a Husker Du/Replacements type sound, I guess. Put out 3 records, toured the US & Canada a bunch of times. Made no money but had a lot of fun and never spent more than 4 days in jail...

Awesome, sounds like you had some great times. If your band had some Husker Du vibes than Im sure you must have got a warm reception wherever you played, its great that you got to tour. The good old days.
Yep. Trademarks are that way. You don't police them, you lose them.

Yeah I saw Husker Du 4 or 5 times. We opened for them twice. The first time they had to use all of our gear (amps & drums) because their van broke down about an hour from the club. Actually, it wasn't a club. It was an old warehouse where they practiced asbestos removal. I blew off my senior prom to play the show. My mom was really mad and said I would regret it. I love her but she was wrong...

Some cool personal music histories here! Plan 9, before my day, opened for Hüsker Du and a host of other happening acts of the day. I missed out on a lot, having taken a twist in the road down an unlikely rabbit hole. But life takes it's funny shape, I'm making it happen with what I've got now, which ain't nothin' (double-negative).....
