I was hoping to Ro-Sham-Bo for it when we got there. Guess I'll have to find a Major another time. You can have the HiWatts -- I'm having that Marshall!
Civilized eh?. Probably explains why its still an option in Canada, we do live in igloos and make our living in the fur trade industry so..........It's outlawed in civilised countries:
Places Where Declawing is Illegal - Countries that Outlaw Declawing - Declawing
And there's the jack plate. I have never seen a Thunderbird with a jack plate like that before. It's been altered, but if it was done well, it's interesting anyway. Way too expensive for my thin blood these days, though. Knock a whole lot off the asking price and I would start to think about it a bit. I'm about to put Black Beauties on my fretless. Chromes were nice while they lasted, but they didn't have it the other night. And, I just happen to have a set of Black Beauties lying around with nothing better to do with themselves. That fretless did look cool. But those stress cracks in the heel of the neck were a bit of a red flag to me. I wonder if the bass had a neck or truss problem at some point and the fret board was removed and replaced with a fretless one. I've never seen a stock fretless bird before, not sure if they had that offering in 1990.
The BBs should sound good, I'd be really interested in your take on them. Another one that should sound interesting is La Bella tapes. And there's the jack plate. Not a word. Not yet. She has a bead on a Thunderbird. And she's feral.![]()
I agree with this observation. I think it is like people getting their political insights from Facebook friends. I can't imagine that most of these folks have played a Thunderbird, as they aren't that easy to find in most stores. I saw a similar slant in an amp-bashing thread. I am guessing that, more often than not, some posters read something where one person mentioned owning something that involved them having had a problem or expressed a negative editorial opinion and that gets propegated by others. And sometimes the reasoning is just plain silly, like one amp company moving some production to Indonesia; therefore, the amp quality has declined by default. Meanwhile, they love Ampegs (which are now made in China).Honestly I've only ever seen negativity on that forum. I bet if you went over there and made a thread saying how you love Marshall Plexi's, there'd be nothing but people saying how they suck.
I think Gibson would offer Ebony fretboard long before Epiphone would. I haven't heard either one offering fretboard options, with the exception of Gibson Thunderbird's from the 1990's, and the white Gibson Thunderbird's in the mid-2000'sis there different types of fingerboard of Vintage Pro?
cause mostly i've seen (i think) Rosewood but if it's possible i definitely want Ebony.
Very possible. I think it also has to do with people just hating things that are different.I agree with this observation. Looks like rosewood stained ebony to me.is there different types of fingerboard of Vintage Pro?

I've never seen an Ebony fretboard on a classic pro, dark rosewood sure, but not ebony. Rosewood can vary greatly, especially because there's multiple kinds of rosewood.i'm not an expert about this topic, i meant the color tone of the fingerboard.
classic pro had random different fingerboards for sure.
some were very light brownish, others were straight black.
You'll have to wrestle the missus. Good luck with that. You can have the HiWatts -- I'm having that Marshall!

There have been rumours that the fretboard on the VP's aren't actually wood either, I forget what it was called though. Dunno if anyone's 100% confirmed or denied that rumour.
Pack of fng hyenas .You'll have to wrestle the missus. Good luck with that.
Ya I don't know exactly what's up with that, but the chances of it actually being Ebony is superbly low. It's a low quality picture though which doesn't help. But most of the really dark ones like that that show nearly no grain, are stock photos, so they could have just oiled it making it look darker.i meant like for me.. fingerboard like this

or fingerboard like this

is completely different, but it looks like it's totally random cause nobody mention about it when they sell the product.
i'm about the buy a Vintage Pro and if there are random dark toned fingerboards i definitely want to buy that.

But I don't blame you for wanting a darker fretboard
Wood is generally inconsistent, but there's more than one kind of rosewood, which makes it more inconsistent. The board on my Gibson Ebony bird is really dark too, but there is some lighter streaks. The rosewood board on my StingRay almost looks like Pau Ferro, it's so light... needs to be oiled though. So I wouldn't worry about it too much, if you are buying from a place like Sweetwater, that you see the pictures of all the basses in stock and you can pick the exact one you want, great. If not, I wouldn't worry about it too much.there is definitely an inconsistency in the fingerboard wood.
my ebony bird has really, i mean really dark/black fingerboard, but i've seen a lot of other birds with bright brown.
so i'm confused what's up.
