Hi guys, I need to make some room so I am selling my white Classic Pro. The bass is moddified with Chinabuckers and my Badbird II bridge. The only condition issue are three small holes where I moved the tailpiece. I will install the original strap buttons before shipping. $400 Shipped free in the lower 48 states.View attachment 2847039 View attachment 2847040 View attachment 2847041 View attachment 2847043

If only it was in Sydney and they were Australian dollars, I’d be shoving money into your hands right about now.

And I’m not even that keen on whites that turn creamish. But that looks great to me.

That’s a fine looking bass right there!

Kitty Daddy?! Remind me to kill you later :)

The upright in my photo is a 1948 Epiphone B4. That same year and model bass was used on all of the Bill Haley and the Comets hits. May sound silly to say, but listen to some of those recordings again. One of the finer examples of recorded slap upright bass to this day.

About 7 years ago, I started filming a documentary about slap upright bass, but a nasty divorce kinda put the breaks on it...here’s a scene...

The first solo, by Joe Fick, was on a normal Englehardt. Perfectly fine basses! Englehardt bought Kay in the early 70’s, and for the first 2-3 years, at least, they are just rebranded Kay’s. I’ve had a few over the years and they get the job done and then some

Thanks for that. I’d be interested to watch if you do get the documentary going. Maybe a few episodes on YouTube would be a way forward.

I find the exchange rate doesn't have much affect of Thunderbirds, my most recent one, I got near Toronto for not much more than that. It's weird.
But it is a great price at $1000 USD, I would jump on that deal.
It's actually CAD$1000! So I'm gonna have to grab it I think.
Thanks all for the links.
Will post pics if I manage to do the deal.

I guess I’m at that age. I’m home from my 4th family funeral of 2017. Just had a Canadian Club n Dry stubbie to help with the cooling down (38 C today).

Anyway looking at Dukes doco clip sent me looking for Scott Owen stuff and I came upon this article, only slightly bass related but I think it’s cool.

Cheers mate. I came home from hospital when I was born in a FE Holden - kinda a mini 55 Chev look.
(The shape before Scott Owens FB panel van.)

The beauty you posted is an EJ panel van. The EJ debuted in 62, as did I.

The grey engine in ‘the earlies’ (Up to & including the EJ) was based on pre-war design, with some talk of a mysterious ‘Canadian block’ on some of the first Holden prototypes.

But I digress.

The car that brought me home from the hospital when I was born :hyper:
(Side note: I found a picture of my hood ornament )
