I think I am experiencing what its like to be in a % of a group that can make or break the value of a collector piece. My 1981 Daion Savage is one of 4 in red that year, 16 Savages built in total. The Savage and the Daion name have a very short history witch consists of a group of passionate Daion owners keeping the legend alive. Those who had one but no longer do kick themselves in the ass now just thinking about it. Ive had mine since 1987 and its sings today the way it sang back then. For shytts and giggles I thought I would offer it up locally for about $500 without expecting anyone to act on it. They usually go for about $700-$1000 on ebay in the rare event one comes up. Dropped it to $250 after a month and no takers. Good, I really didnt want to sell. I thought I was the only guy in town when a month ago someone posted a white Savage and I thought this oughta be interesting. Well yesterday he dropped his to $200 from $575. When he had it at $275 I started thinking that I should have two, I love mine and they are rare but...... . So here is my place in the % of a group that can make or break the value of a collector piece. Or not?. Seems it is a piece that is only worth big bucks to someone who wants it bad enough. Never had a problem deciding whether or not I should customize it, value never factored in because I knew I would never let it go and after owning it since 1987 we needed a makeover. It has been getting that way lately. I still love him though. I did a scene in the movie for him about 8 years ago, I got to hang out with him for an hour with three other hockey players. His son is world class as well. Don calls me "The Hangman" because of my role in the movie. Im the goalie.

Funny, two of my gf’s nephews are teenage, spoiled Sh!theads...horrible kids. Never got two words out of em. Then they found out I happen to be pals with a couple famous rappers who live in Nashville and have worked at Jack Whites studio. I don’t have the heart to tell em im not a huge Jack White fan and listen to very little rap stuff

Should tell them that you hate to break it to them but!. Them rappers they admire have told you personally that they dont even like rap and its all for the money. If they had a choice they would put out hits in the vein of Anne Murray, Gordon Lightfoot and Buffy Saint Marie.

Thanks Bro, I feel honored. I am a goalie but Ive only played mid to high division calibre beer league after community club during my life. The guys on my summer league team were raving about doing tryouts for the movie but I couldnt be bothered. Once the team drove me crazy with their "Were gonna be in a Don Cherry movie sucks to be you"!. Fine I'll go I said. Turns out that after about 500 tried out for spots I was the only member of my team that made it into the casting. Now they had to listen to me say "Im in a Don Cherry movie sucks to be you guys"! for the rest of the season.

When does one know when its time to start drinking less beer?. Anyone?. Sometimes one has to look at ones self and decide early in the game that the time has to feel right. Ive never felt a right time for such measures. Nothing about drinking beer less seems right to me.

Not at all. I already know it's not. I'm gonna put a HipShot bridge on there fo sho! Though I gotta say... since I shimmed that G saddle... I can't really bitch about my action I gotta put tuning machines on it before I run outa WD-40. I'd love to get some Goth pups to put in there. I wanna get a W/B/W truss rod cover with an old-school Epi "E" on it. That's all I can think of... for now

Was the G string slapping frets?, I dont recall what the issue was. Strictly height preference?.

I could get E, A, & D to sit where I liked 'em, but the G was ridin' the rails damn near the whole way down. I came up with a possible theory as to why that is. Maybe I'm about to make myself sound like a complete idiot... but the bridge is supposed to be radiused to match the neck. The Korean bolt-ons have a larger neck. If they use the same bridge that was designed to go with the standard T-bird neck... could those differences be enough to cause me trouble, but maybe not somebody who's not so GD finicky about his action? {scratches chin}

No Dude not at all. No Idiots were involved in the process of correcting this engineering oversight / quality control issue. If anything you are the kind of guy they need visiting the factories overseeing quality control and breaking out blue prints to ensure everything lines up to specifications. I have two 3 point bridges and I can tell you that the saddles were definitley not made from the exact specifications. Even if you bolted on another neck with less taper, this should not happen.

You guys are so prolific- 100 pages and it didn't seem that long to me since I last chatted here.
I have decided not to chase an Epi Vintage Pro TBird across international boarders.
They look great, but I will wait.
I have three Birds- two Burst and a White. Really, I would be looking at a black out of the current offerings. I have a heap of black basses- I know, I am shallow.
I would really like a red TBird or a blue one, so I will wait and see if the stars line up and a solvent Aussie importer coincides with some nice colours down the track.

In the meantime, I am hunting Gibson G3s- I have a reissue but I think I might like a 70s one.

Well... I appreciate the vote of confidence... but it's just a theory. If it actually were to be the case... I wouldn't be surprised if it were considered, and then decided against so they wouldn't have to spend anything on additional R&D, and could use "stock on hand". Money talks & BS walks...... right into production, if it'll save a buck

I played the guitar version of those, too. Putting it down was tough, but not as tough as coming up with the price would have been. Plus it's white. I'm not a big fan of white guitars or bass guitars. It makes me an outlier around here, but that's the normal state of affairs everywhere.
