Just looks ‘right’ to me

I think they assemble the wiring harness prior to install, and when installing them, they just get the next one in the bin. But still something that shouldn't happen on an instrument of that level!

For what Gibson charges, a magical wiring elf should be spinning those harnesses out of straw and making them solid gold, custom made to fit each bass. ![]()
I had to take a sick day from work yesterday to get caught up, but I've read it all again. Miss a day, and all of a sudden there's 300 posts to read.
The way I look at it is Fender charges over $2000 for some of their NON-Custom Shop stuff, and they are all bolt-on's, a neck-thru Ray is $2100, a Ric is even more. I'd say Thunderbirds are priced right.New T Birds (and Gibson’s in general) don’t strike me as THAT expensive for US made instruments. But they’re just expensive enough that all the details should be taken care of. Being something of a noob to birdworld, I now know the 2013, 2014 and 2015 ‘Birds on the used market are more than worth the asking price. I lucked out and found my 2014 stupidly cheap and everything about it is pretty much flawless.

But quality can be a bit better
That's the word I was looking forOr just consistent
That's my kinda "cat" right there
Speaking of mods, there’s a 2014, same finish as mine, but looks so much cooler on Reverb

7027A power tubes, Baxendahl (b-15 style) tone stack channel 1, Fneder style channel 2. Sweet combo!. Cost me $250 shipped from Git Cntr in Dallas a few years ago. They just stuffed it in a Marshall 4-12 carton. Broke a pilot lamp. One microphonic Mullard. Otherwise, perfect.
Jess said his only regret was not spacing the power tube sockets far enough apart to use KT 88s.

Forgive the "nitpick"... but Sweetwater will sell you a brandamnew 4003S for about $1,350.00. arguably the best deal out there on a U.S. made neck-thru. Strike that exception from the list, & I'm on-board with everything yer sayin'The way I look at it is Fender charges over $2000 for some of their NON-Custom Shop stuff, and they are all bolt-on's, a neck-thru Ray is $2100, a Ric is even more. Seems to be the general consensus. Thanks Dude.Strangely, I kinda like the 'after' more.
This bass has been around for quite a while. It was for sale for $1400, dropped to $1200 and sold. Then was re-postd by the current seller for $2000. It occasionally gets "discounted" down to $1800. I agree about the "look" and it was what inspired the "chroming" of my 2014.
