Did you guys see this short scale Tbird on eBay? The auction is over and it was listed locally and I contacted the owner. No one picked it up at $1200 but it can be had for less than a grand. I've got contact info if you're interested.
On a side note, I've always wondered in relation to the head dive issue, why NOT trim the head stock much like this one is cut. Can't be that hard to do. Might kill any resale value but in my case it's an Epi IV that I only paid $260 for. Thoughts?

Before I'd get to cutting on any instrument, muchless one of my beloved TBirds, I'd add strap weight to get my balance right but TBH, I don't have an issue with just a 2.5" strap.

Before I cut into a headstock on any bass I'd try using a wider more grippy strap, then if that didn't do it I'd stick with the grippy strap and move the pin location, then if that didn't do it I'd keep the grippy strap and new pin location and swap the tuners out for some ultra lights. If that didn't do it, I'd buy a new bass. Neither of my birds dive, and I haven't actually found one yet that does, guess I've been lucky.

That small headstock looks SO wrong on a Thunderbird...

Yes you should! BTW if that sat outside your front door in freezing weather be sure to let it warm up a bit before opening the case. Happy NBD!
Oops, I was editing the pic and decided to start over on the post. LOL
It'll sit till this evening but it didn't spend anytime in the cold other than in the Fedex truck. The wife had to sign for it.

That's awesome! Getting a pro to do the refin is a great option! Hope he's reasonable for you.

I had a bass delivered by UPS a few yeas ago when I lived in the Cincinnati area. Apparently it was delivered to my uncovered front porch on a monday afternoon when there was freezing rain and a temperature of about 35 degrees F. I was at home but never saw the UPS truck and he never rang my doorbell. The next morning I looked up the tracking status and read that it had been delivered the day before. I looked outside and there it was, covered in ice! To make matters worse, the temp had dropped into the teens overnight while it was sitting there, I figured it was toast.
Brought it into the house and removed the frozen and water soaked shipping box. Fortunately it was double boxed and the inner box was dry. So I let it sit unopened for the rest of the day. Then opened it the next day. Much to my surprise there was no damage. Probably the only things that saved it were double boxing and the hard case it came in.
Heres the bass, she had a rough trip but made it fine...
That's a beauty! Not a run of the mill Spector there at all. Glad she didn't suffer.

I love the look of the metal PG's I've seen on eBay. I think a powder coated textured PG would be incredible.
