It is way nicer than I expected.

Mint was very accurate thankfully. :)

Of course I plugged her in and played a few favorite bass lines. She sounds great but very different. If I were a seasoned musician I'm sure I'd know when to use her instead of my Tbirds. Got to put some Schallers on her and she will enter the rotation with the others. First blush, I'm connected and she's a keeper!

Edit: After looking at the pics I posted, I had a good look at the headstock and that smudge is just that a dusty smudge. It didn't show up when I looked at it at first but was visible in the pic with the lighting. It's clean now. Not a mark on her. :thumbsup:

I wondered the same thing. All I can figure is the tuner placement.
Looking at the headstock from a reverse point of view it always reminded me of the beak on the thunderbird totems. Just imo...

I actually have one of these (#1)...

As a matter of fact you get 2 pickguards when you buy one of them - One plain black powder coated and one in polished aluminum....

I never thought I'd say this to another man but it just has to be said. I have rig envy. :laugh:

But TBH, I rattle the China with my Roland and I'm nowhere near playing out anywhere. So for now, I'll have to enjoy looking at and reading about the awesome power available to fellow bassists.

My favorite is #2 as well, but I got a #1 thrown in for free in a deal, when I bought my Silverburst 2nd hand...


Will use it on my Goth together with these knobs:

Haha, thanks bro! I gotta admit I do love my amps. I'm just lucky to have a wife that plays ball...or at least doesn't ask a lot of questions lol.

I rattled a bunch of stuff off her desk the other day, she just laughed and told me to make sure I pick up when im done.

I would love to test out a Mesa D-180. How do you like those?

My wife has allowed me to get a little carried away in the gear department. Guess we got lucky huh?? :thumbsup:

Oh btw, the D180 is great.
Little different voice than the 400, but then again you're talking 6L6 vs 6550's.

The beauty is channel 1, its cascaded through channel 2 (supposed to be a guitar channel) so it can get really gritty. Definitely some of the coolest fuzz bass I've heard, just wish I could A/B with the SVT with a foot switch to be able to get the best of both.

That gritty sound is what sounds so intriguing to me about the D-180. I wouldn't want full on fuzz, but some nice dirt would be sweet :D
