Thunderbird Club

I think that's my main concern. The same thing that's great about Thunderbirds (the meaty darkness, or dark meatiness, depending on your perspective) might mean I hardly ever play it because these days I'm only playing in church and maybe the occasional jam band for kicks. I was thinking the 760's might be a little more open and clear, yet still ballsy, which would enable me to use it in more applications. Thanks for the feedback.

Don't be shy. Both are great.

“Open and clear, yet still ballsy...”

I think you could describe #760’s that way

Why would you be jealous? You already have one in the color you DO want :)
Funny, Blue isn’t typically a color I’m drawn to on a bass, but that really muted, 60’s look makes me happy. Cool, yet understated.

The NR41 has a retro-futuristic 'Jetsons' vibe to it, set off by the one of a kind pearloid speed knob -- pearly punctuation.

Cool!

Yes, was woken by sustained rolling thunder and cats jumping off the bed to hide underneath (pussies!)

Still nothing definitive on whether the #760s are actually EYGP Chinabuckers. Initially I was inclined to believe that was crazy talk, but who knows eh?

I sure have no idea. I’ve only tried the Embassy Pro, which are made in a different country, different plant from the VP. I’d be very interested in hearing both of those basses side by side. Would love to know how similar/not similar they are from one another

Which begs my next - maybe stupid - question. What’s an EYGP chinabucker?

preamp tube is here for the Traynor. Seeing if there’s a bit more clean gain to be had. ...
Swapped for a JJ5751 gold pin. I can hear zero difference between the two. Thank goodness pre tubes are cheap :)
The 5751 is very similar to the 12AX7/ECC83, but has a nominal gain 04 70 per triode vs 100 for the original tube. Given teh tube similarities, I wouldn't expect much difference, especially in terms of clean gain. Which Traynor?

I’ve listend to more clips of aftermarket T Bird pickups than I care to admit. Then listened again. And again. And again. I’m sure I’m full of it, but on neck pickup only clips of the Thunderbuckers, I like both the ‘63 and the ‘66 quite a bit. With a two pickup bass, both pickups on, I tend to lean toward the ‘63’s. But that is based on clips, not real world experience. Love the Lollars too
Someone may have beat me to this, but I'ma say it anyways.
You know the solution to your problem right? More basses!

Don't get @Gaolee and me started ... you'll need a trusty theremin and an oil can delay. There is division as to whether said delay must be a Volkswagen sized Morley or Telray, or whether an emulator is permissible, but an oil can is spacey, if spacey is bad acid in an abandoned fairground hall of mirrors.

There's no truth to the rumour the Will and I are the Lost Boys, although he does bear an uncanny resemblance to Kiefer Sutherland.
Emulators are never permissible!!

I've had a theremin in my GC shopping cart for at least 6 months now, I just never got around to buying it. Now money is too tight to get it anytime soon
