These are my local choices if I'm window shopping: Link Removed
Kinda premium priced sucky choices. The Mesa 88 is about the only one on the list I'd even give a second glance to, and it's priced absurdly. I'd imagine your used market down there is pretty tight as well. The land of Oz might not be the place to hunt for gear. Maybe you should click your heels three times, Kansas probably has a better selection and better prices. Of course shipping will be a bitch, its gonna be tough for him indoors to strap an SVT under his trucker jacket and still get past security.

"The BH 500 amp features a solid state preamp and a 500-watt analog power amp"

The original ones were definitely hybrid....
Anyone know the reasoning for that?

Solid state can still be analog though, but I don't know how well a digital power amp would work. Digital pre on the other hand, you could have infinite possibilities for effects and tones.

'Analog' means Class A/B presumably, although Class D is not actually 'digital' (common misconceptions #64974).

If I were looking for an actual class D head now, it would probably come down to a choice between TC, Aguilar (AG700) or Mesa.

100% Thunderbird!

My ideal FSO is a P with a J neck. A J with a P neck would be vaguely weird.

Played a few gigs with the TC as backline. I just don’t get it with those. The Aggies are cool, but I’m super happy with my Mesa.

P bass with a J neck was my main bass for years. Very cool setup!

So far I am digging my Genz Streamliner 900, but have not used it outside of the house yet. Has a 3 tube pre and gets gritty. My friend has the Aggy Tonehammer 500 and it is quite nice. I have heard good things about the Aggy AG700 as well but haven't tried one yet. I like Mesa stuff but a tech I know says that they are a regular item that crosses his bench. I think the Big Block 750 sounds nice and growly and like something I could hang with.

From what i understand, the Big Block 750 is a scaled down version of The Titan V12, which is also a killer sounding amp.
