Finally got to test run a Vintage Pro this evening at Concert Musical Supply in Murfreesboro. They've got a burst and a white one in stock, which they said have been quite popular. They also stock the Embassy Pro, but have sold all they've received.

I like how lively it is, and the sloping away of the body wings was unexpected. It was lighter than I expected, and the headstock was longer than I was prepared for, although it doesn't look out of place. I'm really quite taken with it. I just wish there were more colors available. I want a red one, and a green one, and a metalflake silver one, and a yellow one, and...

Range alters the mid corner frequency -- sort of a passive parametric -- I keep it on zero.

Scoop is satan's knob -- don't touch it.

Resonance is a feedback control for the power stage. Less = tight, more = big bouncy bassy pillow.

From left to right, the approved Kat settings are (in panel numbers)

Gain: 7 (I know, I know)
Treble: 2 + Bright OFF
Mid: 10
Range: 0
Bass: 10
Scoop: we will never speak of this control again
Resonance: adjust the boom to the room

PS. I hear you. Bass, Mid, Treb and Pres would have been fine with me...

The same, maybe slightly more ... if you can find them. No one stocks them. The Bass Centre in Melbourne says the RS66 list price is $AUD117, but offers a 'discounted' price of about half that.

Christ on a bike! I pay a maximum of about £20 for a set of RS66, and I think that’s steep

Hey Geoff @RedVee, how's the new Gibson going?

Ah Kat, I love it. I know it is the honeymoon period but I am so happy that I got this. It is gorgeous and it feels great in hand.

I haven’t put a great deal of time into it just yet due to work pressures.

I have managed to get loud enough to get told off by the family - ha!
Oh, and in trouble again when heading on a weekend away, when I made sure the bass was safe from burglars but evidently didn’t spend the same attention to the kids.
In my defence they are adults now... and the Gibson is still young.
