Oh, I see. It's the full shebang.
Theoretically, at least!

Yeah, but I live in NYC, not Theory.Theoretically, at least!
I wouldn't...why reinvent the wheel?..In part, I suppose. A modeling amp, like the Fractal AX8 uses modeling software so that in theory at least, you can run any (virtual) amp through any (virtual) effects, into any (virtual) cab sim. Every parameter can be tweaked to the nth degree. Again, unbelievably cool on paper, but I’m lacking good real world examples of why I should go down that very deep and expensive rabbit hole
Ya win some, ya lose some... unless you're @dukeorock ... then you win them all for a fraction of the price...No Cataldo Fenderbird for me.
I couldn't get a solid answer on the shipping, bidding was getting near the limit I set myself and it was in 10% Australia tax and additional custom charges territory.
As it turned out in the end I would have paid what it went for or a little more, if I could have had a firmer answer on the shipping costs.
C'est la vie.
There’s a club in Nashville called Nudies. Some rich dude collected many of his old suits, guitars, posters...even bought his old Cadillac and had it mounted to the wall. Sadly the club itself is pretty lame, but the old pieces are incredible
Mike Mills, of REM, was rock'n Nudies for a while too.Weir, Kretutzman, Garcia, Tweedy. Nudies
I think so.Beautiful, reminds me of mine........Before Chromitis got ahold of me.
Do I have you on the club roster?

On this topic, you have mentioned that you record bass tracks remotely and then send them off to be used in recordings. I was curious how this works in terms of production? For example, how much creative license are you given on tone? Do they prefer that you do something dry and then they add effects (e.g., compression) in mixing/production or do they let you mic a cab and/or use pedals?I’m not arguing for or against the tech, just curious who’s used it.

I know there are some programs out there that can model drums (Slate and Superior Drummer) and bass, among other instruments.

This sort of program could allow them to tweak your tracks.
I know that you are talking about a slighty different form of modeling technology. But this is kinda related.
Yes. My impression is that this is what people use that don't need or want to mess with a bass player or rhythm section for that matter (including drum simulations) - literally a "one man band".That’s pretty neat tech! I’m not sure it would be what I need as that is something you play from a midi controller to emulate a bass...pretty cool though! For me to use it, I’d need a way to convert bass playing into midi notes.
What I’m talking about is using an actual bass guitar into a modeler that emulates amps and effects. Doubt I’d go down that road but it’s interesting to see how the tech is evolving

I tried a guitar cab simulator pedal, in my quest for bedroom/home recording options. I didn't find it useful.

And two of the new Darkglass Ultra pedals have cab sims, too.A lot of people like that new Omni Cab Sim, but stuff like the Fractal AX8 is a different thing altogether. It’s pretty expensive too, so you’d want to be pretty darn sure before diving in!
No kidding. I guess for IEM and DI into FOH, it would beat schlepping gear.A lot of people like that new Omni Cab Sim, but stuff like the Fractal AX8 is a different thing altogether. It’s pretty expensive too, so you’d want to be pretty darn sure before diving in!

...I am not a pro but an anecdotal observation is that I seldom see bassists even swapping out instruments during a performance, to the same degree we see it with guitarists...
