I see on the Fender Rumble club that the new Studio 40 is out.
It's a modeling amp with a blue tooth enabled foot switch.
Not sure how effective it will be in real life, but kinda cool for the right player I guess. Technology marches on.

I would contrast this with seeing Cheap Trick on Front and Center shortly after their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. As anyone familiar with them knows, part of the show is Rick Nielsen having tons of outrageous custom guitars. Bassist Tom Petersson played ONE instrument the entire show: his signature model Gretsch 12 string. I was waiting for him to swap out to a Thunderbird, as I figured he might be under obligation to show his signature Lull model too. Nope.

Saw Cheap Trick back in '79 and Rick definitely had a LOT of guitars on stage even back then, but mostly played his Hamer Explorers... :)

Hey, I saw Cheap Trick in 79. Double bill with Ted Nugent.


As far as bassists changing instruments a small, recent sampling:
Alice Cooper - Chuck Garric changed instrument each song
Deep Purple - Roger Glover changed instruments frequently but I don't think it was every song (perhaps every other song)
Guns n Roses - Duff changed instruments every song
Dream Theater - Myung did not appear to change instruments but he could have several that all look the same

I’ve already changed into my dictator outfit and have taken over. Engineer has been demoted to tape op at this point. Dick move, but he’s young and will get over it :)

Motley Crue - Sixx would change basses quite often..... Mars would change guitars maybe twice.

His Sig Lull was primarily for a stint they did in Las Vegas, I think they were covering a lot Beatles stuff - Helps explain the position of the pickups.

Wow. I guess that my “single bass theory” is totally full of crap. I stand corrected.
