I hate driving to begin with. But I totally spaced on everyone driving to work on a weekday. And that rt46 is the worst!!!

I've been a car guy my whole life and was always up for a road trip - especially for gear. A full tank, provisions and music was all I needed. I'm not sure whether society has changed or it's yet another indication of aging, but of late it feels like I'm auditioning for David Carradine's role in "Death Race 2000".

That's the only exception, I do it for the gear. These days when I have to drive. I drive like an old lady. So glad I don't own a car here in NY. I'm forced to drive when I'm in Joizy having to do stuff for the aging aunt and uncle. That's enough to drive me crazy.

Scott brought up a good point about the bridge being set forward on the CP, making the neck shift forward, eliminating reference points.
It's harder to tell in two separate pictures, unlike your picture which was one side by side, but it looks like the bridge is at least 1/2" (millimetre... what's that? oh ya...12.7mm). Depth of cutout might be the same, but I think the lower bout is definitely angled down more on the CP.
I agree with Hillerup about the angles being different all around.

What's this inches stuff? You are Canadian fer chrissakes! Cut it out with the archaic measures. Thanks.

Traveling to and from Jersey twice in the same day - glutton for punishment are we?
Totowa, lol. An old favorite (not). That section of Rt46 east is an adventure at pretty much any hour.
On a similar note, I recently had to pick my son up from a concert in NYC. I got into Fun City early and figured on circling the block(s) to kill time until he was ready. Well, my sense of direction said "make a right at the next corner and head back". Unfortunately, the "next corner" turned out to be a rather poorly marked entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel, so it was a short trip to Weehawken and another $15 to get back to where I needed to be.

When I lived in NYC, I hated having to go to New Jersey. There was no way to get from one place to another without some kind of convoluted snarl that was caused by mis-marked or misplaced signs, missing signage, strange one-way streets that went someplace they shouldn't, and who knows whatever other ways New Jersey can drop a human into a vortex of misdirection. It sucked. As a person who sometimes has to fly in and out of Newark, I have come to the conclusion that New Jersey never fails to disappoint. Which is a paradox.

So... Is the cutaway deeper on the CP and VP compared to the Gibson or not?

To the naked eye it sure looks like the cutaway is deeper - Or at least the lower wing is shifted slightly backwards compared to a Gibson

To my eyes it appears that the upper bout starts at the 15th fret on both basses, whereas the lower cutaway starts at the 16th fret on the CP and at the 15th on the Gibson.

Also the rear end of the two have different angles with the CP having a more vertical slope to account for the lower wing being shifted more backwards than on the Gibson - That would also account for the bridge appearing to be slightly more forward than on the Gibson.

If you take a close look on the pictures, it seems that bridge is more or less in the same position on the upper wing on both basses, but not on the lower wing.

So at least on my CP the neck seems to be in the same position as on the Gibson - only the lower wing is shifted backwards...

Yep, looks like Eppi slid the lower wing about one control knob width south. It also looks like they moved the neck pup about a half pup south and the bridge pup about a quarter or less south as well. Which might explain why every Eppi I've tried sounds more mid focused than my Gibby.

Tech nightmare this week...the ol’ iMac keeps giving me the beach ball of death...can’t finish sessions or mix projects. Ordered a new computer last night. That hurt! Then yesterday I did a 32 mile bike ride and at the end, discovered my phone had fallen out of my jersey pocket! Went home and jumped on my iPad and used the ‘find my phone’ function and it worked! My phone was about 9 miles away and I got it. That was lucky

So what do you do in your spare time? LOL

All I'll say is I have a Classis Pro and recently acquired a new Gibby Tbird. Be it good or bad, I tried to string the Gibson with a set of used Black Beauties off of the Classic and there wasn't enough string. Where I had two complete windings on the Classic I couldn't get one full turn of the tuning peg on the Gibson, so the scale must be slightly longer, wouldn't you think?

Not necessarily. The scale is measured from the nut to the bridge not the tuners to the bridge. If the tuners are further from the nut it would account for the extra string required. The VP takes this example to the extreme.

Edit: I see others have already responded and you had a slight face palm moment. Please ignore my reply, no intent to pile on, just trying to catch up in this fast moving thread.

I did a quick test to make sure the cab was functioning as it should. I think they know. I'm not in the dog house as of yet as far as I know. If there's no eviction notice taped to my door on Sunday, then all is good. I hope.

One day a couple years ago, I was stuck on 1-5 south just north of the Tacoma Dome, and I could see three separate house fires in different directions from the traffic jam I was stuck in. It was a defining moment. There probably ought to be a song about it.

I was surprised I could still dead lift close to 100pds. Not sure I could do that on a regular basis. But it's worth it's weight in gold in the tone department.

That's how I feel about going into NYC these days. It used to be fairly simple - the streets pretty much ran in two directions - crosstown or up/downtown - and the one-way blocks alternated. These days, between the collage of signs at each corner, ever-changing traffic laws, perpetual construction and general lunacy, it's like an anxiety attack with tourist attractions. I won't even get into the parking.
