Thunderbird Club

So as promised, here's some pics (sorry about the quality)

She's definitely got some play wear, but it's in decent shape. Good neck, minimal fretboard wear, very few dents.
Only have 2 gripes. 1) it has a scratchy static sound when plugged in...think like the sound of a vinyl LP thats been well played, traced it down to a bad solder joint that will need to be repaired, not a big deal at all, and 2) the TRC is a little wavy. Actually really surprised how thin it is. Gotta be 1/2 the thickness of the ones on my other birds, epi's included.
Other than that its pretty great :)

Love that wall of yours! Gotta have one myself whenever I move to a new place... :)

Those two white ones - Are they both Epi Classic Pro's?

In regards to the Gibson TRC's - both of mine are also pretty thin and warped - Definitely not the same quality as the ones they use on the Epi's...

they're both classic pro's.
One is stock, while the other has EMG preamp and active TBDC's, and has a functional but very ugly brass nut/nut job.

Yeah I was pretty surprised by the trc. I'm sure its hard to replace as well. Anyone have any luck straightening out their TRC's?

Got a pair of these in the mail today:

Gotta be interesting how they compare against the regular Epi Thunderbird+ pickups...

Cool, I'm definitely interesting in your comparison. I was thinking about stripping the covers off my Epi Goth's P/U's and putting them in the chrome covers I bought awhile back but this might be a better option and I could just sell the Goth's original P/U's. :hyper:

Not a bad start point for someone looking to do a custom build.... maybe ;)

I've always thought that might be kind of fun to build. I put together a P bass from parts a little while back, but it was costly and it's a beautiful instrument with parts I really wanted. I have no idea how that one would fair once built.

That's pretty much what I had in mind - Either keep these as they are and put them in one of my goths, and strip the original ones and put them in chrome covers for my other Goth, or just strip the DeepSixx and put those in the chrome covers.

I haven't quite decided yet, but will probably try them as they are for comparison first...

I have accumulated quite a bit of spare parts now, and only need a T-bird body, before I can assemble one of my own - This might be a cool project for the winter...

You guys are awesome and bad news for my pocketbook, I need new tuners. Hipshots?

There are some Hipshots designed Gibsons - I think you'll have to email or call them IIRC they aren't on their website.
