Thanks, Chris!

Man, I wish it was Elmers... that would be great. My guess is epoxy or CA. The both yellow over time and as you can see, they've yellowed.

This got my scratching my head a bit... "then rake the blade that's still exposed with a file in one direction so you get a lip on one side of the blade. Use the lip as a scraper and gently go over the area until its level," Do you have a "scraper blade" that you've got prepared sitting in your work bench so I can see what I should shoot for? Are we talking about a utility knife blade, fairly easy to hold onto and not flexible? How big of a lip, .002 - .005? Something that I can feel but not really see or something more than that?

Sorry about the additional questions, just don't want to jack it up by starting off wrong right from the get go.

After the sanding, you say compound it and wax. What do you recommend?

Agreed... unless the person had something glued on that he liked AND it made it easier for him to see, it's kind of dumb. But hell, if you can't look down and just know where 3 and 5 are, maybe guitar ain't for you. SMH

Im at work right now so I can't get any pics, but check this video out. Its a VERY similar method and he's using the razor scraper tool I mentioned:

THAT, kind sir was exactly what I needed! Thank you thank you thank you! That's a confidence builder to see how it works and that guy in the video is awesome for imparting his knowledge for all. What a cool dude!

Similar stuff going on here too. Gotta hop on my zero turn for a spin around the yard, make a run to Costco with the wife for some beef tenderloins for tomorrow and then the rest of the day will be whatever comes up. Grilling tomorrow.

Thanks again for the help! I'll let you know how it goes... got to get supplies first before I can tackle this job right. Finding such fine sandpaper could be tricky.

I've been fascinated with the Luminlay fret markers, but I'm not sure if I wanna put them in my Bird. I'm not really a traditionalist for a $200 bass, so I'm not sure what the hang up there is. I guess it's because I don't have first hand knowledge of the stuff. Anybody actually seen them in real-ish life?

That's an awesome idea Haji, my brain has been swirling about the very same thing. Been thinking about the phosphorescent arms in older watches.

The only challenge is in the reading of Chineese. I'm not very goodat that.

That is the video I used when I touched up the spot on my Warmoth. The video does a great job of explaining how to do it and should make you more comfortable when the time comes to attempt it.

Discuss. Top 5 bassist in the world? I'm assuming he's saying RnR bassist but still...

That depends on how one defines "best". Is it playing a lot? Doing hard parts to wow other musicians? Is it flashing up the groove? Or is it keeping the root? Maybe somewhere in between all that? I've seen Mike do some runs and fills during a song that aren't on the record. They fit, drive the song, and I'm sure kept him from being bored. I think he's a more capable bass player than he ever showed with Van Halen...but everything he did fit within the music they were doing. I don't believe Eddie had anything to do with the intro solo of "You're No Good". Eddie couldn't possibly be showing him all those parts before recording it. That's preposterous.

Yeah, I have one of those luminous sticks I bought for a fretless project I plan to do later this year...

I don't recall if it was Luminlay or a similar brand, though.

It's a 7" long stick you cut into smaller pieces and insert into pre-drilled position marker holes. The whole process seems quite simple as long as you can find the appropriate sized drill...

When in place you need to "charge" them with either a special LED light charger with blue light or an ultraviolet lamp to keep them charged for a while - using a regular pocket lamp is not sufficient for charging them for a longer time.

So ive been spending quality time with the newest bird. Dang this has a beautiful finish. And a sound! A good bit more growly, a fatter more full sounding. Dare I say sophisticated. Not so much angry piano, but lets just say it seems to have a controle in its anger.

Hows THAT for a description?

Oohh I just found Angry Planky Piano!!!

Are you talking about the Epi Pro-IV???

My Pro-V sounds sterile, boring and gets noisy when I turn up the treble knob - What strings did you put on yours?
