Thunderbird Club

My Fender-bird ( esque ) custom build ( the Warbird ) is almost complete.

A pair of stunning Thunderbucker Ranch 66 pups fitted and she's almost done.

Thanks, Michael. I love my chromed out Goth. I play it more than any of my other basses because it has the D- tuner and the best set up I've done on any of my basses. It is a pleasure to play and I don't worry about it because my all in cost is under $300!

That's my favorite pic of her!

How are those Slingshot straps - Do they cope with sweat and humidity well?

The leather straps I currently use seems to "soak" a lot of humidity and sweat and are quite damp after a show, and I would love to find and alternative....

Wow!!

Love that green color and that cool headstock kinda reminds me of an old Guild Jetstar Bass - Very nice... :)

Holy smokes! I just pulled the pickguard on the Epi NR and damn does it look sharp!

I'm trying to figure out if I should just make an exact copy of the old PG that's all warped and doesn't lay flat any longer or if I should do it in black since I have that material already or to go in a different direction altogether.

:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:
Screw the PG, looks great w/o it

I really like the Slingshots and I just bought my fourth but I cannot speak to its show-worthiness since I play from 20-60 minutes at a time under about 100w worth of lights for my and my dog's enjoyment. But what I can say is that the TBirds stay where I put them, no neck dive at all.

Aren't you worried about the screw going through the thin body or making a dent on the front of the body?

Hmm? I'm talking about the bottom (bridge end) strap pin. I move that one toward the top (E string side) of the fin about 3". My neck-side strap pin is in the Epi Classic factory location on the back of the neck heel area.

I'm at work, so I can't snap a fresh pic, but my cord is looped over that strap pin in this pic: (...and FWIW, the bass pretty much hangs as it's positioned here:)

Ahhh.. I thought you were talking about the strap button at the neck heel... ;)

Yes, it does tilt slightly forward, but I don't consider this a big problem...

I personally like to have both a strap button at the neck heel position and at the upper bout - This gives me different options depending on whatever strap I decide to use for gigs or rehearsals...

Thanks.
I'll try it out tonight.
I had read that same suggestion somewhere in one of the many threads on this but for some reason it didn't compute to me that I could just try it out because it's easily undone, which of course is the beauty of the idea.
