More sensile reply I hope. Have you put a meter across everything to see where the fault is? Might be a dry joint or something, hardly worth sending it back for something simple

Not as yet. I am guessing it's a bad jack, pot or worst case scenario the pickups are open.

John Lennon was reported to have stood up and exclaimed "Look Adolf Hitler's on the telly!". I think the whole UK was stunned the first time that was shown, no one knew what to make of it

Well ****. I plugged in my new Vintage Pro Thunderbird and it's dead quiet, not a peep. Checked all my cables, had a look in the back, nothing out of place. Tried other basses and they work. So much for Sweetwaters 55 point check. I guess its going back.

Found the problem! Simple short on the tone pot.

I am lucky I can fix almost anything I have a broad base of skills and knowledge. The garage door opener crapped out I knew automatically that was a stripped worm gear, parts on order.

I've never heard of those, from Manchester, best band out of the Hacienda were the Buzzcocks

OK never knew that, Manchester is a place I've always steered well clear of, I find it a very aggressive town. Erics in Liverpool was the venue of choice up north in my day
