I managed to forget about Brythonic/Welsh which was once the language of the South-west of Scotland. Anyway apart from the academic/historic interest, there's no point crying over it -- languages evolve ... these things happen.

Old English:

Many, many thanks to Instagator for the Gibson Pickups!! The Blackbird I bought had Bartolinis and he came through with some OEM PUPs and I’m over the moon about it!!! Now she sounds like a Tbird should. Absolutely amazed at the difference in tone. The Bart’s sounded OK, but nothing like my other Tbird. Now with the Gibby’s In the Blackbird, it romps like crazy. Now that you mention it, I think I have a Sweetwater rep assigned to me. He calls me faithfully every month and asks if there's anything he can help me with. Maybe if I explain the situation...
And if I'm really lucky I'll get the border guard that's a bass player when I bring it across the line...

Whomever did that janky PUP replacement needs to be kicked in the taint anyway. Mismatched screws and all. It was in crappy shape with a horrible setup and stripped screw holes aplenty. Two of the PUP springs were just stuck to the magnet in the body route. Face palm...
I got it setup decently, straightened the new PUPs, and filled in the screwholes. Now she’s what I hoped she would be. With the difference in tone, I wonder if I wired my Cherry Bird the same way if it would sound more like the Blackbird?
I really like the Blackbird bridge saddles. They’re beefier and taller, so instead of sitting up high off the body like my Cherry Bird, the bridge is slammed all the way down near the body with very little threads showing. Wonder if I can get those big tall saddles from Gibson?

The Blackbird is more resonant unplugged as well as plugged in, and has quite a bit more sustain. My Cherry Tbird isn’t wimpy sounding at all, but the Blackbird now is a whole other animal. I compare it to a Spector Euro4 I had several years back with the low mid growl and crazy deep low end.

Edit: gotta be honest, if that Middle English wasn't there I'd have no clue what Kat posted. The translation would look very different.

I'm glad you were able to get some proper pickups for the BlackBird. I can imagine it sounds much meaner than it did with the Barts.

Regarding the bridge difference on the black and cherry Bird, the newer Birds have a different neck angle than the 2001-era Birds had. That is why the bridge sits so high on the newer models. My 50th Anniversary Bird's bridge is the same way. The bridge on the BlackBird is pretty much down on the body.

Yah, both the '64 and '67 are primo examples of the 2 types of 60's vintage T-birds but man-oh-man, what they are asking! I mean, I've seen first gen T-birds listed for as much as $10K over the years but rarely, and the ones that actually sold sold for the $5k-$7k range. So I could understand that the past "too high" price of $10k would eventually become the top-end selling price - but another $5k more? I know there is someone out there with that kind of 'expendable income' - but I've never spent that lump sum on anything in my life. (and needless to say - I wouldn't spend that amount even if I could on any bass - period)
