I just did a country/rockabilly set on my ‘Bird tonight...I can’t think of a place it doesn’t belong! I've done concert band and big band on mine. It works for anything it's put to doing.

I sorta screwed up placing my reply there.

I've been nuthin' but pleased with my li'l fifteen dollar Snark. I can't say anything bad about it... but I wouldn't perform with it clipped on my headstock.

I leave it on 'cause if I take it off I'm likely to lose it.........Oh, look, a bunny!

GenPop = General Population of Talkbass.

Basically any thread outside this or most other club threads on TB. It's where the ill advised go to parrot things they've heard elsewhere (TBirds being one trick ponys, SGs sound like thud, every bird neck dives to the floor, Gibson headstocks self eject if sneezed on...) and wax on about things of which they haven't a clue.

Some of us dive out there on occasion to stir the pot or torque low comprehension individuals but at the end of the day this club, the SG club, the Spector club and a couple of other clubs are the place to be.

BTW - I believe in clubs for guitarists as well as clubs for bass players, but only after kindness fails.

Thanks. Our normal repertoire is 60s/70s rock but both guitarists are jazz guys at heart. Just no venue for that around here. Just as an update on that, Wendy went to the fracture clinic yesterday in the local hospital and they said the bones have slipped back into their broken position soon after the cast went on. So she's back to hospital this morning for surgery to break her wrist again and have it wired up

It has been a very long time since I have seen one. The 50 would have had 5881s and the 75 had 7027s IIRC. Never did a side by side. It used to get quite dirty when it was turned all the way up. The cab weighed a ton -- no idea what the drivers were. I stopped using it after we built the 500W hybrid/mosfet monster, although I occasionally wonder what happened to it.

My first amp was one of these. OK, didn't upload. "63 Blonde Bassman head(50w) and 212 bottom. Wish I still had it(sigh) Ah! Found another pic.

I see so many people with clip on tuners. And they just leave them on.

OK, they are cheap. If I worked in a guitar store, I would keep one on hand to tune instruments.

But for home use, how can you use one? Get a proper tuner that works quickly and accurately; one that plugs into the output of the instrument in some way (pedal or otherwise).

I'm of the opposite mindset. I use clip on tuners at home all the time and I did carry one in my guitar case as a back up for gigs but while on stage my preference was my rack tuner or pedal tuner. Just never liked the look of a clip on during a performance.

They work great at home when I don't want to plug in to check the tuning. Slap it on the headstock, tune, take it off. Takes no time and it goes back in its place. I also take one when playing with others because they are so easy to use and take up no space in the case or bag.
