And another thing...
Has anyone tried 250k pots in a TBird, and what was the resulting tonal change?

The ended up screwing a plate to hold it as opposed to wires, so she will be out of plaster in 2 weeks instead of six. So bigger surgery now but a shorter healing time. We're home and she's in a lot of pain, poor thing

I hate to say this, but I'm thinking of selling off one of my two VPs (which is why I don't mind that the prices went up!). I just picked up a pair of Ovation Magnums, so I need room on the wall.
Weird thing is, one of my VPs has Thunderbuckers in it and one is stock. I may stick with the stock one, which surprises me. I will do a more detailed test with the same strings on both, but I may prefer the stock pickups. Weird, huh?
Magnums? Don't see a lot of them going around.
I got two good deals in the same week, which was unlikely. I sold my old Magnum in 2016 because I was doing all of my recording with my P bass and needed money for a fancy vintage drum machine. Regretted it immediately. The Magnum I is insane, especially that neck pickup.
What's the common sense on the hipshot supertone for a Gibson bird? I have one on my Midtown where it made a big improvement, but am not sure if it will be a good thing on a 2012 bird too.
Barry Adamson used to -- still -- plays one. They're fascinating, if a little misshapen looking (and I mean absolutely no disrespect).

did you play one of these through it?It has been a very long time since I have seen one. The 50 would have had 5881s and the 75 had 7027s IIRC. Never did a side by side. It used to get quite dirty when it was turned all the way up. The cab weighed a ton -- no idea what the drivers were. I stopped using it after we built the 500W hybrid/mosfet monster, although I occasionally wonder what happened to it.

When i was at B&H Photo 2 weeks ago, one of the staff who helped me out is a bass player. We talked a bit about music and basses. He said as much as he likes ThunderBirds, He loves his Magnum.
Never played or heard one myself.
