Thunderbird Club

Very interesting. Fenders were prohibitively expensive abroad hence the knockoffs. Ironically, the Bassman circuit was not much more than a copy and paste of the application section in the back of the RCA manual. Not really intended for musical instruments hence the high level break up. Not aware of any vacuum tube manufacture in Oceania back in those days, but pricing of 5881 was such that it drove Jim Marshall to adopt the EL34 and thus the birth of the Marshall crunch. I wonder if AC15/30s were not cloned over here due to the lack of EL 84 availability..

Yeah, my Eminar is an Aussie version or perhaps alternative is the better word.

For you small sports car fans, his was my day. Got to drive my buddy’s later MGB a bit, and there’s my 67 C10.

Coincidentally the Maton is a MGB also.

It reminded me of when I raced Go-Karts, sitting so low and the sharpness of the steering. It was a fun little car. And I felt like Austin Powers when I sat in it :roflmao:.
Would I trade in my truck for one? No. But I'd drive one again.

@Count Bassie

Have you bought that Coiiseum rig yet Roger?
We're talking. I'm going to have to hustle to do it, and sell my SWR Basic Black and Basic 2-Way ext cab (lower power 2×15 stack). I dig the SWR, and what I need is to decide I'm going to really dig the Sunn... but my true confession here is that I want a cool rig that isn't a compilation of stuff I can "afford".
Thing is, I have a couple amps that are very good (370, Trace AH250SMX- and I really love my 370!), but I'm not really properly equipped for cabs. I could hold out for an Acoustic 406...
I'm a little into wanting parts that belong together. Maybe it's just a vanity thing, but I've been playing a long time, and though I've made some stupid decisions, I'm a little tired of coming off like a broke 17 year-old, dragging my scraps to gigs... call me vain, perhaps.
Also I have no experience with the Sunn. Lol, but it looks cool, is my generation, and is allegedly in excellent shape.

So I'll now take the opportunity to ask has anyone here had any experience with that Coliseum 300 and 215 cab?

@dukeorock has that head.

I was trying to summon him for you. I played through one as a back line eons ago. Great sounding head with an excellent eq section. But if I’m not mistaken, they love to be run at 2 ohms.
I've been reading up, yes 2 ohms, like my 370. But apparently, like the 370 it'll play nice at 4 ohms too.

Yeah I saw you call him there, thanks Jeff.
