Thunderbird Club

Hi there! Please be welcome here with all of us T Bird folks, I'm just back from a trip and the house has women's clothing, boots, cosmetics and Thunderbirds all needing some attention. I'll try to bring the list forward tomorrow along with a formal welcome, meantime please hang out with us! Love your band!

T
Mine goes back to when I first joined " The Dudepit", in retrospect I don't think it's all that good, but it's kind of too late to change it. The name I liked best was Donnervogel, which is German for Thunderbird, that was Uwe's name there.

Thank you!!! and WOW... Nasty Habits.. sooo cool!!!! Love it!

After a long absence, officially back in the club! Just added Hipshot nickel mini-clover ultralites and supertone. Dig!

Yessir! 2015 model, before the current ones that came out recently.

I usually leave the truss rod cover off to be able to adjust the neck when needed. I got this used, and it came with a Gibson-branded cover, which I'm not thrilled about, but will likely use at some point.

Gorgeous bass. Something about white TBirds..

I waited a long while for a white one to come up at a decent price. They normally go for higher than the sunburst, likely due to demand.
I have a cherry BaCHbird that I'm thinking of either selling or refinishing in white. If I refinish I'll try somehow to "age" the pickguard so it looks yellowish. I really like the look of the white with the off white PG.

Hey just busting in here a minute, oblivious of much... some of our crew here are Sunn aficionados. Anyone ever have or play through a Sunn Sonaro 2x15 cab? I've got a set of 8 ohm E140s (for a 4 ohm.load), and need a cab for them. I'd like to have it together by this Saturday, which is our 80s band's first show- at an Elk's lodge in Mansfield, MA. :smug:
Anyone with a Sonaro (just the cab) story?

@D.M.N. should be able to help.

The Sonaro was originally a 40w (EL-34) 1x15 combo amp, switching to a head/1x15 piggyback setup in '70. If it's the Sorado cab, which was a 2x15, it will have the round tube ports, unlike the middle slot port on the 200s. Can't say I've ever used the Sorado cab, but from what I've read they don't quite have the same depth and character as the 200s. However, JBLs will likely help with that, as the original Sorado cabs came with CTS speakers in addition to the different cab design.

Thanks for chiming in on it.

I believe the later 70's piggyback setup went to 6550's.

Hey man, yeah thanks for chiming in! I've been trying to work out what to do with these E140s... they came in surprisingly small Thiele type things with shelf ports, and I don't think I can do much with them in those tiny boxes.

Still not sure what I'll do, I may just step entirely off it for a few days and just go do our gig with my muscley little DIY 210 cab.

Your knowledge and time are much appreciated!

Totally with you. Portuguese, Italians and the like pay dearly for live music. Italian wedding bands make bank.
When everyone is sloshed and you are done with your sets, they come up (usually the father of the bride starts it) and pay astronomical amounts for another set or just more songs. I've walked out with over a grand in pocket on occasion.
You ever play the Fall River/New Bedford Portuguese circuit?
We played Fall Riv and New Beige, sure. By the time I got on board though the scene was juuust starting to wan a bit. I was with them for 3 years, my last year we played fewer than a dozen gigs. We were quite good actually, had a very good singer, but that last year meant it was time to call it a day.

It was fun though, and we were all over- Central Falls to Lowell...

It's a Sorado, which lines up with your description. I also have a 215B on deck, which I have used before and like a lot. This one...

But, what I really want is one of these...

Just the cab, I have a different ACC head (370).
