Thunderbird Club

Great picture, and welcome back! :)

It's been almost a year since your last entries in the Club - what have you been up to all this time? ;)
Thanks for the welcome.. I've been working out the kinks in the bass.
So, between that and getting this band together, I've just been checking out the posts..
I haven't had anything new to add, so I've just been lurking..

This the latest picture..
Hoping for more to come and on bigger stages..

So I decided to pick up that thunderbird pro iv. Cleaned it, set it up, new strings, one practice and then a gig on it last Saturday. Pretty nice bass, so far I like it allot better than the bolt on I used to have.

With the flash you can really see the wood and grain, but up close it's a very dark bass.

The only thing I have noticed is that the pre amp is a little noisy, I think it's a grounding issue somewhere but I'll probably just shield and ground everything eventually and that will take care of that. Also (and I should have done this with the set up) the bridge is a bit quieter than the neck pup, going to have to adjust the heights and try to even them out.

Missing the truss rod cover, anyone know where I can get one?

If you haven't gotten one already here is one that will fit, although it's not the original one:

Speaking of Thunderbird parts.........

Check these killer Repro covers out!
I found these on our GodofThunder59's FB page, these are a great add on to any modern Thunderbird to give it that '60s -'70s vintage look. Original Gibson pieces like this are super rare and way too much money. A PM to our good man Scott is recommended!

Whoa. Those are really good.

That looks special...

Would you mind elaborating on this and what bird it is?

This is a treble bleed kit. The setup is 2 x 500k Emerson/CTS Usa pots for volume, a 250k Linear Emerson/CTS USA tone pot with 0.1uF PIO cap for tone all rigged into a gold plated Switch Craft mono jack. I mainly used cloth pull back wiring for this set up and was my first rebuild so thought I would test some ideas out.... and the bass is a Epi Gothic TBird.

Fun little project, thinking about replacing the neck pick up soon to a custom Zombie Dust Doomster.... these look awesome and he can custom make them to any spec... more info Link Removed

I also am lookin for a TRC for my pro. Havent been able to find one on FleeBay that has the stock "TBird Pro" on it as of yet.[/QUOTE]

Keep an eye on the GuitarHuggers website, they frequently have parts from broken Thunderbirds (and other guitars) and had a couple some weeks ago, but not at the moment though...

@Larry V , I might be getting a new car this weekend, so I might have to order a new 'Bird decal for it! Stay tuned!

In a related post I'll add this........

A big THANK YOU to Larry V for the 'Bird that graces my new car!
I'm all packed and about to set off for a Saturday night show in Sequim, WA, as you can see, Subaru's are fantastic gear haulers for the working bassist!
