Thunderbird Club

Their Farewell Tour too!

Are you going? If so enjoy it, i'm jealous!

You bet! I'll get pics

I’ve got 4 tickets for Skynyrd’s show on August 10th about an hour from my home. The wife was skipping it and it was just going to be me and the kids. I’m not going to be able to use the tickets because I also have tickets for an all-day music festival about 20 minutes from home that the kids really really really want to go to... I didn’t realize the events were the same day until after I bought the festival tickets.

I need to get to selling those Skynyrd tickets.

They'll sell.

I just got back from picking up my VP at Guitar Center across the line.

Border guy: Anything to declare?
Me: I picked up a bass guitar. It was $514 US altogether
Border guy: You just went down and bought a bass?
Me: I ordered it online and picked it up at guitar center.
Border guy: What kind of bass?
Me: an Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro
Border guy: Cool, what colour?
Me: Tobacco sunburst. Do you play?
Border guy: I used to. Have a nice day!

Technically he could have made me go in and pay 12% tax on the Canadian equivalent, so I lucked out. (Gotta get lucky sometimes...)
The bass itself seems brand new except for the black strings which feel like DRs. The set up is pretty good but the nut slots could come down a bit. I'll be doing that this afternoon.
I stopped by a Long and Mcquade on the way home and picked up a Yorkville case. The fit is perfect.

I can't help you out. I have plans for 10 August also.

All good reasons why you wouldn't have caught me dead following those groups back in the day.
Back then (mid 1970's) my opinions were...
Elton John = sappy bubble gum rock
Bowie = beyond out there, made bizarre look normal
Elvis = chubby has been with a sneer lip and greasy hair
The other ones I don't even recognize.

Now days I appreciate their music for what it is, but seriously, some of these acts (i.e. Genesis with Gabriel, etc) when you look back on them just seem silly and not ready for prime time. JMHO, YMMV:thumbsup:

I agree and in the best of ways - Bowie was beyond out there and he did make bizarre look 'normal', which is to say he elevated sofisticated costume/theater in rock as eloquently illustrated by your pic example choice.
