Well...looks like those Epiphone 760 probucker pickups are going to stay in my “I’m Gumby Dammit” Bass for a while.I played it out this weekend and the Vintage Pro Thunderbird sound follows these pickups.Sounded just like my other Thunderbirds, which is a great thing!
I may put some Chinabuckers in my doner Embassy until I can find a replacement set.I set it up without the rings for now..
It seems like I’m spreading Thunderbird DNA everywhere..Cheers!

Man, this is a killer pair of basses, and you've done both of the mods I've been wanting to do!

On your P-bass, is the neck pickup in the P sweet spot still, or did you move it around at all? I've had an idea for a while to fashion a swappable pickup system in a P like this, since you could do quite a bit of routing underneath a pickguard that size and just have extra pickguards made to fit each pickup.

On your Thunderbird, how do you like that Hipshot (that's what it is right)? I have a Epi Classic IV pro that I wanna improve and I definitely wanna replace the bridge in favor of something more easily adjustable, but I'm not sure whether I should get one of these or a Badbird, maybe a Babicz.

I don't have a sound clips but I would say more mids and a bit less low end. I made this one from a Fender Blacktop Percision body, a MIM jazz neck and Lollar pick ups. The pickus dropped right in, no routing needed. The pickguard needed some filing to fit the pickup.

This one has a .22 Orange drop capacitor so it is a bit more aggresive to my ear. YMMV.

This sounds awesome.

Well, I do play in a hair metal cover band, so maybe TBIRD1958 can give me some spandex and makeup tips, that may make the Day Glo Bird look right. LOL!!!

The trick is to be sure and choose clothing that properly accents the color of the bass you plan on playing that evening ( the result is a vicious circle of buying both Thunderbirds and clothes to match, good for you and the economy, your wallet, not so much!) and sally forth to the show!
I do end up wearing a lot of black so a nice brightly colored bass "pops" easily, and the blue hair is a nice compliment to the orange bass.
I should charge for this kind of fashion advice

No kidding! I could never play I&V for that long without throwing in a walk or two:smug:
Yeah, I agree but I'd heard he wanted the backups to keep it simple-stay outta the way. We do this song and I walk it most of the way through. Maybe only walk during the bridge. Oh.....it doesn't have one ("Where's that confounded bridge?")

What a great shot!

Gettin' to know each other! Just dropped some cash on a set of Lollars and a Hipshot bridge. Can't wait to bring the NR to the stage!

You won't be disappointed. And i know you've probably mentioned this, but my brain broken, what pick ups are in the Reverse?

Nice basses!

I've been bugging people in this thread about the Hipshot Supertone since I've got an Epi classic IV pro I wanna use as an upgrade platform. How's your impression of the supertone so far, worthy upgrade?
