My bird lives!!! Spent all morning woodfilling, sanding and staining. I will be painting the white plastic black sometime soon. But for now, gonna just enjoy it until i swap strings .

So I have had my New TBird for a couple of weeks now. I still am in awe of the craftsmanship and playability. I finally get to play it live at the Red Dirt Ball in Medicine Park Oklahoma this Saturday. Can't wait!

Well, I've been pretty much just reading lots of threads since joining Talk Bass a year ago. I figure it's time to start socializing. So I would love to be part of the club if you'll have me.

I bought my bird a couple years back, right after joining my first band. I had played a tiny bit before, but needed a new bass to call my own again.
I found this beautiful creature at the San Diego Guitar Center, and instantly fell in love with the look and that growl.
Today my Hipshot Drop D Tuner, and some new Billy Sheehan Rotos came in. Excitedly installed the Hipshot, and the strings will go on in a couple days when my baby goes in for it's very first setup!

What is the purpose of the plastic part?

When i was fixing it at my uncles place, he had placed the plastic over the body just to make it sturdier while the glue dried. So after a few days, well yesterday, i removed it, did some wood filling, waited til it dried and sanded everything flush. THen took some black stain and stained that whole part. I also filed down the one nail that was sticking out at the bottom (my uncle put two nails into the body to join the broken piece while it dried). And i actually kinda liked the plastic in the back. It just gives me a relief in knowing that it'll be sturdy enough for me to keep playing. All in all, i'm pretty glad i get to play this bass again. And regarding my ground problem that i had before it broke, it's gone!! There's a little faint noise when i'm not playing but it's not like the screaming one i had before. It's a good thing.

Nope, Just the broken place. Black stain really darkens the bass. And you can barely notice it was broken, unless if its held in certain ways under light. Or if you look at the back xD. What kinda sucks is that the bottom isn't flush as it used to be, But it's no bother to me anyway. I just plug and play. Can't wait to get heavier strings for it, these 45-105's arent as growly as they sounded before. Maybe it's just cause they've been on the bass for a year and that since it broke, i hadn't heard it sing.
