Has anyone ever added a stop tail to their T-bird? I was debating going string-thru, but I'm not a fan of fishing strings through the body. I'm going to be mounting a Supertone when my bird arrives, but I want that extra little bit of distance to keep the strings from having the end wraps on the saddles.

The taper ends up sitting in the saddle. I don't like it. I like my strings to be a consistent size from saddle to nut. With taper core strings the wrap is smaller than the diameter of the rest of the string, so I don't get your point.
Oh, there's no mechanical advantage to it. All it would allow me to do is move the end of the string further away from the saddle. If the Supertone allows enough room for the windings to be off the saddle, It's an unnecessary mod.I've thought of it long ago when i first got my bird. But i got informed with the good people here in this club that it'd be useless for a thunderbird with a 3 point bridge. Plus i wouldn't bother with adding one anyway today. String through sounds like an idea.

Yeah, I definitely don't want string changes to be a chore. AllParts has a bass 4 string stop tail with quick release. I'd be using that if I added a tailpiece. There used to be a guy on eBay selling titanium (iirc) rods for 3 point bridges. The rod sits against the bridge with a hole for each string. This gives you a little extra room for the wrap to clear the saddle.
I have one somewhere. It worked fine, but it makes it a chore to change strings. The Supertone is better.
CTMullins, tell me all about that Bird!
I gotta say, $80 for a TBird is downright reasonable. Nice!
I am getting very antsy waiting for my Lull NRT to arrive. It should be ready in the next couple of weeks. Must resist calling Mike/Paul and pestering them.
Somehow, that drink in your left hand doesn't look like Gatorade! The Nasty Habits hit the road this past weekend after a 6 month hiatus to replace our guitarist - I took my Lull and Orville Thunderbirds, playing one each night - The Bar9 in Pt Angeles isn't air conditioned so we sweated up quite a bit, I drank 3 quarts of Gatorade each night.

Post show Friday, looking pretty bushed, but with a glass of MacAllen 12 year Scotch along with the Bar9's owner, Noi, she's such a doll!
