I think it was 1991 when a buddy of mine was listening to WIDR, the "college" station from Western Michigan University. The DJ announced that he was going to play something new that he could only describe as "Motorhead meets Jan & Dean". I don't recall the specific track they played, but it was from this album, which has remained a favorite of mine ever since (Danny McCormack switched back & forth between a T-bird and a P-bass).

Not quite that low, but it's all original paint and interior, and can easily go 100% original including the engine and windows.

So it has, best thing for it too, honestly it looked like a Grabber with an adult toy attached to the upper horn to extend the strap button. Honestly it looked ridiculous to avoid bad language, the owner would have looked a right, well, knob going on stage with that!

And looks probably wouldn't be deceiving. He really wanted a 7ender, so he tried to make a Gibson into a 7ender. Oh, well. I always tried to make 7enders into Gibsons, then figured out that I should just go with it and play a real Gibson. Problem solved. They aren't for everyone. People who try to turn them into what they are not end up having odd shaped things attached to different places.

This has been a good afternoon. I started smoking pork at noon, and it was ready to eat at 5:30 this evening. In the mean time, I went for a walk around Green Lake, which is a local park with a lake in the middle. The sun was out and there were lots of nicely displayed women. About halfway around, there was a young woman, who I assume was some kind of model, posing for a photographer on a rock. Stark naked. My wife was with me, so I couldn't stop and gawk. It was still a pleasant surprise. And, the smoked pork came out well, too.

Now, I'm down in the basement, about to pick up one instrument or another. The archtop got some exercise, so it's probably time to mess with the fretless 'Bird. Life is good.

Can those pickups be taken apart and potted?

I can only speak for post 2000 TB+s but they are well and truly embedded in epoxy, think brick. Is it a shielding issue perhaps?

Do both ends need batteries? Our longest set has been 100 minutes, would the batteries last through that?

Only the transmitter needs batteries. The receiver uses either a wall wart or standard power supply cord thing. I typically get around 5 or 6 hours out of a set of batteries.

I use a couple of Velcro cable tie things to hold the battery door shut on the transmitter. Works like tape but no residue.

I have always kinda wanted a Corvair with a Corvette engine shoehorned into the back seat. They exist, and I'm sure they are way more trouble than they are worth, but a mutt like that would be an absolute blast until you have to do something like change the spark plugs.

Q: I have a nice plank of Padauk. It's heavy, don't want to use a lot in a bass build, but I like its density. I've also got some Big Leaf Maple I want to use for a top.
Would you be inclined to take a thin slab of Padauk and use it in the interior (lamination) of a bolt on body? Normally I see a softer wood on the inside of a bass sammich...

Just looking for a little conventional wisdom. Thanks for your time...

Yeah people have stuffed all kinds of engines in air cooled VWs. But if you’re adding a significant amount of weight and horsepower to a car that’s engineered around a 60HP engine, you better think about handling and braking
