It's a cool bass but I would never pay that price. Especially for a fake relic job. But the overall idea of the bass I do love.

That would be an Engle/Warmoth LPJ. Last Millenium my wife’s brother bought 3 pieces of walnut at a garage sale and gave them to me. I glued them up to make a body blank. Fast forward 10 years and I bought a Warmoth Bloodwood on Wenge J neck that (it turned out) didn’t look right with the body I intended it for.

I had acquired a 79 Epiphone Spririt (a 2 humbucker LPJ made in USA) and traced that shape onto the blank. I installed a Kent Armstrong soapbar and found a Badass 2 on CL.
I played it with Chromes on it for a few years in an acid-jazz/blues band.

Since then the Badass went to my JBass and for a while that neck was on a Squier Jag body.

I’m going to put on a set of roundwounds. I’m thinking about ordering a set of those chrome Tbird pickups on EBay. That’s what people refer to as Chinabuckers - correct? I could put one on the LPJ and the other on my Engle EB3

That looks like an original EB-0. Except the pickguard. I'm not sure what to think of that, especially where it doesn't curve around the pickup ring quite right.

I think it's meant to look like the pickups have been changed, they have a dealer in the UK and some of the guitars they sell for them have things like a strat pickup at the neck and a P90 at the bridge.

It's the iodine. Having spent too much time hanging around in hospitals, I associate the smell with iodine based disinfectant. These days hospitals don't smell like that.

That old fashioned hospital smell, it used to turn my stomach something awful, actually did once when I was small but we won't go into that

They are pricy but to be fair that relic job has taken some time too although you could buy one of my twins for less than that shipped, I'd even include a bit of seaweed for that authentic brewed by the sea smell

How are you finding the Kent Armstrong? That's a blast from the past for me, I haven't heard of his pickups being used for ages, they were highly regarded a while ago
