In all honesty, I would not feel too comfortable with UK opening for my act..
Well they were a small prog trio, playing high-intensity music that's not for everyone. Not the most generally accessible music. At the time we were lightly intrigued, and as happy when Yes started up.
I must admit prog rock was a complete mystery to me, even today! Thank God punk happened or I'd have been well stuck
Each to their own of course.I do have a minor Rick Wakeman encounter story. In 1996 Wendy and I were on a trekking around the Isle of Man coastal footpath, tents/rucksack sort of thing. We were strolling on the quayside at Peel when we came across a guy sketching, we said our greetings as we passed and who greeted us back was Rick Wakeman. That was it really, not much of a story to entertain at parties
He was at a golf tournament in Marbella (87?) and my band was playing at the awards party. After playing a beautiful solo piece (I had never heard, still haven't) on piano he jammed "Johnny B Goode" with us in A, lol!!!I must admit prog rock was a complete mystery to me, even today! I think you misread. I meant they would have been a really tough act to follow specially with Holdsworth..
Only Star that ever sat in with us in Miami was Shirley Alston(Shirelles). Weren't sure it was her 'til she sang the first note of "Will you Still Love Me Tomorrow", then there was NO doubt.

I thought that too, which is why I stressed the "inaccessible" angle!
I think as long as I wasn't trying to one - up them, I'd be ok with it. I mean, what're you gonna do??

Ha! Not on this run. We’re mostly in Sturgis for the next two weeks, with the exception of sneaking out a couple times to play North Dakota and...one other thing, I think. After that, we keep heading west. Jackson Hole, a few gigs in Idaho and as far west as Portland, OR. Then we work our way down the coast into California before turning east to work our way home. Some long, tough drives, but beautiful scenery!

August 19 is the Portland date. Not sure why no Seattle. I miss Seattle!
There’s a couple small ones, but this band has never been this far west, so a couple smaller gigs is all they could seem to manage this time out

Swapped out the tuners on my tobacco sunburst VP. I couldn't stand the small tuners they switched to. I wanted to install vintage reverse clover leafs but I would have had to ream
out the holes so I went with the Wilkinsons that they used on the early VPs. Ahhhhhhhhh, much better!

We miss you! I am in Portland today and probably won't be able to get down here for the show. Dammit! On the other hand, you might get some good looking Portland groupies instead of a kinda weird guy from Seattle. There is always upside if you look for it.
