I’m not one to have the same strings on all my basses, but KS strings are by far my favourite. Only problem is BSO is currently closed and I couldn’t find the gauge I wanted that also had free shipping.![]()
I haven't tried Bass Burners yet, Rock Master 45-105 Stainless are the ones I like, they do have a great piano tone - that said I'm TOTALLY LOVING the DR Jonas Hellborg siggie Rouindwounds on my '89, friggin' eargasm!Aren't those TBird1958's favorite strings as well?..
I liked Black Beauties, but couldn’t stand the Dragon Skins. I have a set of Red Devils coming in this week.Well, shoot. Why did it take so long for me to try 'em then? I still have a couple sets of Dragon Skins because I like coated DRs a lot, too. I haven't decided where those will go yet. I haven't changed strings on the fretless for a while and might see how that sounds. Tapes will go on the '91 with Chinabuckers as an experiment soon. Those are LaBellas, if it makes a difference. So many strings, so little time. This sounds like a reason for another bass.
I gave them a look but the shipping put me off. Decided with Strings & Beyond for my Red Devils. While they don't have free shipping [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] these guys always have stock on hand of what they advertise, it took BSO 17 days to ship me a set of KS Rockmasters - not good.

Another nice thing about KS is the gauges! Hard to find good heavy gauges.
I have Burners (I’m 90% sure they’re Burners) on two basses.
Black Bird has 50-115
P-bass has 50-105
BSO had a sale on those gauges so I bought two sets. Once I’m through the 50-115, my sights are set on Metal Masters (same as Rock Masters but heavies).
My StingRay has Compressors (pressure wound) and those things sound AMAZING.
Don’t forget my black Bird and Warlock are tuned to D standard and my Bird has a down tuner for drop CMan, i'm a wimp when it comes to the gauge, gotta be lights for me, or no more then 100 on the E.

You'd love the .130 B on my 5 string Epi Bird.Man, i'm a wimp when it comes to the gauge, gotta be lights for me, or no more then 100 on the E.

It’s lower tension though cause it’s a B-string.You'd love the .130 B on my 5 string Epi Bird.![]()
I work for a display company who laminated the original PG for me with black vinyl, the beauty of it being it just peels off when you get bored of itHi there. Is that a custom PG? Reason I ask is no TB logo.

I finally tried Bass Burners. They are on the 2015. I can see why Kat likes them so much. That's an expressive bass to begin with, and those are expressive strings. I was getting everything from a shiny metallic blue-green scoop to a big, fat, fuzzy maroon sound, depending on touch, finger location between neck and bridge, and some knob twiddling. The mild dead spot on the G string at about the fifth fret is still there, but less pronounced with those strings. Maybe that spot on the neck is the bass' way of telling me it wants new strings, because it is minimal with new strings and eventually comes back. I'll know in a month or two.

I run 45-105 on my standard tuned basses (except the P-bass cause I wanted heavier strings to help straighten the neck, which worked wonderfully), and they all have fairly fresh strings. The set I sent on Kat's NR were 5 years old and had been on three or four basses...I didn't want to risk wasting a new set if she wasn't going to like them.
Try some 45-105s. Free ship from String This with $39 order.
And for everyone else as well. This was posted by the founder of TalkBassNot to Change the Subject: I hate the Pop Up Ads on my Screen. New to me here. Carry On!

I've been meaning to post a photo of my Epi Classic for a while so, finally here it is. This has been my main player for a good 18 months now. So easy to play and rocks hard. I'm currently on the lookout for a Vintage but it could be a while as I don't like buying new instruments if I can avoid it.
