my 72 purchased in 78 (pictured in 79) for 250.00 with OHSC. It looked exactly like yours before removal of the trays, PG swap and addition of a DiMarzio (all plain stupidity)...BTW @GonePlaid, you've already commented on the 70's Dago look and Farfisa....

Farfisa

Playing a 4001 taught me all about wrist bands. I still wear them now I'd blister the inside of my wrist if I didn't, the type of bass doesn't matter, it's how I play.
I think I’ll try the wrristband thing. I’ve developed a ganglion cyst on mine; someone in a thread told it was because of poor technique....at my age I’m not changing how I play.

Is yours stereo? Kind of a hassle to dink around with two amps,
but the ric-o-sound feature is what really sets these basses apart.

Same here. I was a huge Chris Squire fan so of course I had to have one. Quickly realized it was not the bass for me.
Especially as it was my first BG transitioning from upright.
Nothing else looks or sounds like a Rick though. I wish I still had it.
I gotta say, I’m still gassing for one. Thought about approaching JJR some months back when he indicated he was thinking about parting with his. It wasn’t midnight blue though. I’m kind of shallow like that.

It’s pretty amazing how a group of T-bird fanatics show respect for other basses and their owners around here. When someone knocks something, there’s always a hint that tongue is planted firmly in cheek. Can’t say that about some of the other clubs on TB.

If you all can put up with my 7ender antics...................... :)

You can count on me. I’m an unabashed 7ender guy. And I’m toying with getting a real Ray. I picked up a like new used cheap SUB and lousy fret end work aside, it’s kind of intriguing. But not before I add VP to the family. I want a white one I think.

Same here, and the Birds will always be with me.
You'll always be able to find a good StingRay. And a White VP is the way.

Out with the band or at rehearsal, I'm wearing wrist bands

I love Rickenbackers, especially 4001s. I do love to toss a little trash talk at 7ender but, really we all should be playing what makes us happy regardless of the name on the headstock :)

Most likely picking up a coffin case for my thunderbirds. Finally a case to carry them around to rehearsals & gigs. Crossing my fingers as i'm testing out my Tigerbird since it's the largest of both birds, if it fits, the Epi back home surely will too. Also, working in a music store has me glancing at new brands to try on the birds. As i use 50-110 on both, & not much brands make them. It's either 50-105 which i do use dominantly on my other basses, But the birds need a little bit more bottom end & i find its a good balance on the birds alone. I could never go 110 on my other basses. So i'm looking at Rotos RS66LE & DR hi beams.

Any one have experience with either or? Not necessarily the gauge i'm looking at, but just the different series in each brand. Rotos swing & DR hi beams. My playing is pick style, both pickups (as they're wired to a single on/off switch). In case anyone has the time, or has had experience prior with either.

Many Thanks!

Cheers, to whatever you choose to drink

Cut Fretboard 1.JPG I couldn't agree more. I love my 4001, too. However.. I seem to have misplaced this one's head stock somewhere...

EBMM is probably the highest quality bass you will find in the mass produced, USA made spectrum. They use stainless steel frets, nicely rounded, hidden fret tangs... and that’s just about the frets. Overall is equally fantastic.
The only downside is the weight of them, usually is 10+ pounds.
