Thunderbird Club

You can count on me. I’m an unabashed 7ender guy. And I’m toying with getting a real Ray. I picked up a like new used cheap SUB and lousy fret end work aside, it’s kind of intriguing. But not before I add VP to the family. I want a white one I think.

I tried a Music Man a few weeks ago. It was really comfortable... Really very comfortable... Great feel, great sound, and the new colours this year has some real winners.

Out with the band or at rehearsal, I'm wearing wrist bands

I love Rickenbackers, especially 4001s. I do love to toss a little trash talk at 7ender but, really we all should be playing what makes us happy regardless of the name on the headstock :)
The wristband on the left looks like what us ordinary folk call a watch.

It's women's athletic watch, kind of small and girlie, I don't like big watches on me

Is yours stereo? Kind of a hassle to dink around with two amps,
but the ric-o-sound feature is what really sets these basses apart.

Same here. I was a huge Chris Squire fan so of course I had to have one. Quickly realized it was not the bass for me.
Especially as it was my first BG transitioning from upright.
Nothing else looks or sounds like a Rick though. I wish I still had it.

It can be normal or ‘rickosound.’ Sticking with normal tonight. Gonna give this thing and honest shot and see where it gets me, but I seriously don’t think I’ll use it too much

Oddly enough, that turned out to be the case with me and my latest Ric, which has been traded off.
I dare not post a pic of the latest acquisition though. I think it's illegal here.
But i will say it was already liberated. So i don't care about what is still original on it, it's a players bass.
Oh, no! You have a Jazz with tort? Say it ain't so!

I'm interested in the guard if Nocturnal doesn't take it. I have a gutted Goth that I'm turning into a Fenderbird thingie.
You're lucky yours is a recent Epi. The old ones have big, chunky necks. I have a beautiful white/chrome Epi Custom Shop that is just too beefy for me, neck-wise. It's basically been relegated to wall art.:-(
Funny thing is I like those big ol' Epi necks. I have learned to like the usual Gibson Thunderbird noodle, too, but that took a while.

Cleaning up the fingerprints on my VP today, I noticed the Rotosounds appear to be contacting the pickup covers at some points in my playing....Kerang!

Most likely picking up a coffin case for my thunderbirds. Finally a case to carry them around to rehearsals & gigs. Crossing my fingers as i'm testing out my Tigerbird since it's the largest of both birds, if it fits, the Epi back home surely will too. Also, working in a music store has me glancing at new brands to try on the birds. As i use 50-110 on both, & not much brands make them. It's either 50-105 which i do use dominantly on my other basses, But the birds need a little bit more bottom end & i find its a good balance on the birds alone. I could never go 110 on my other basses. So i'm looking at Rotos RS66LE & DR hi beams.

Any one have experience with either or? Not necessarily the gauge i'm looking at, but just the different series in each brand. Rotos swing & DR hi beams. My playing is pick style, both pickups (as they're wired to a single on/off switch). In case anyone has the time, or has had experience prior with either.

Many Thanks!

Cheers, to whatever you choose to drink
Thanks for mentioning the Coffin cases. I googled them and it looks like I can fit the 67 NR in one. I'll order it and if it Doesn't fit, I'll say a few carefully chosen epithets and return it. If it Does fit, then a few Hallelujahs.
