Thunderbird Club

..I think I found a good Drummer..He says he was “big”in the 70’s..doesn’t talk much but has a huge groove.
He was "big" in the '70s, but he appears to have shrunk since then. Somebody put his career in the dryer and he shrank, too. Gotta read the care label.

Probably true if he can fix the existing neck. Unfortunately a neck replacement on a Through neck bass would equate more to an entire drive line replacement on a 1966 Mustang. Not worth nearly as much without the original engine, transmission and rear end. That would be called a daily driver vs a collector and adjusted for inflation probably wouldn't be worth much more than you had put in it over the years.
ALL Thunderbirds built after 1980 are daily drivers, if you want to think about it that way.

I had forgotten about a time much more awesome than a flying bass! A smallish pickup truck was coming down the hill. The light went yellow, and (perhaps because of the upright piano in the back, but who knows) the driver did not want to stop. So he barreled down the hill, took a hard left (tee intersection), tires screeching, and...
...time slowed down...
the piano, not secured well (if at all), leaned over, did a 3/4 flip and hit the pavement with a *glorious* sound, bounced onto its base with more noise, and bounced onto its back across the curb and sidewalk with still more glorious noise. Ivory and wood flew everywhere.
The driver screeched to a halt, jumped out of the truck, and stood staring at the mess.
When Martin and I (maybe 16 or 17?) could finally stop laughing, we asked the guy if he wanted help. He cussed, jumped in his truck, and drove off!
I can still see and hear the scene.
Did I mention how glorious it was?
Buggs Bunny should have been involved.

So some of our crew are into pedals. Our band is doing a mishmash of 80s tunes, 3 sets worth, and here and there, we have distortion in the bass. I'm looking at a way to get that, my Trace head doesn't do distortion though ( the Elf gets a little overdrive working, but nothing like what I'm after). So I think I'm looking for a pedal... might also look for an external eq box too, for use with the Elf. I like the sound of that little box, and I'm getting it dialed in as I go, so that's not as big a deal.
So who makes an interesting O.D. pedal that's not a one-trick talking dog? Looking for a little shimmer, a little rancor, a little chainsaw through the White Pages...

Oh man, there's so many options on both.

DarkGlass B7K ultra and one of those new Broughton Messenger pre-amps.
But i live on that, champagne taste, less then beer budget sorta thing.

Wish you were closer, i'd let you try the B7Ku.

Imagine how stylin' that photo would be WITH a pair of shoes and a 'Bird.

Will see about that....;)

You know you guys may be on the verge of opening the flood gates for those kind of pics.

But i will not be the one, that breaks the peace we have made here today.
