Thunderbird Club

We have some of that entitled bicyclist syndrome here. There are bicycle commuters who are generally aware of what they are doing and who manage to share the road back really well for the most part. Then there are the bike share riders who don't have the foggiest idea what they are doing in traffic. You have to look out for them, but it's not on account of an attitude problem, just general lack of experience. Then there are the entitled twits who blow stop signs, block traffic, expect pedestrians, other traffic, and pretty much everyone to kowtow to their peloton, whether it's one bicycle or, lord help us, a whole pack of 'em. That last bunch of clowns is what irritates a whole lot of people, including me.

I used to ride a bicycle everywhere, when I had time to use it as basic transportation and was going distances that made it feasible. So, I look for bicycles, and think about where they might be. That hasn't prevented some near misses as bicycles pop out from blind areas at full speed, expecting a clear pathway no matter what. I have had them nearly slam into my side doing that, my wife had her foot broken by one who ran over her, and there have been a whole lot of other near misses on sidewalks and the like. The bicycle rider in question is nearly always indignant about the obstacle that whatever or whoever is posing. What this proves is that being a jerk is equal opportunity and that high profile jerks tar everyone else who is remotely similar.

Good thing there are no jerks who play Thunderbirds. ;)
We have quite a few of two types. The entitled types decked out in full apparel on expensive carbon frame bikes and who seem to ride in packs and often take up whole lanes. Then there are those who only have a bike because they don’t have a car or even a license. Ride all over the road, often on the wrong side of the street and are totally oblivious. Both types are equally annoying. We have several miles of bike paths, but cyclists rarely seem to use them.

Love that bass Carlo!
I know you make a JAE Bird. But of all the builds you've ever done what's the closest you've ever come to duplicating one of John's Fender Birds? Any pics? I assume a vintage neck and vintage pups would be the stumbling block in recreating one of his birds. Love to hear your thoughts and see your work if you've gone down that route before.

Finally got to play the Dbird live on Saturday night!

NOLA - I have yet to get my hands on one of these Dingwall Birds but from all the sound clips I can find on them they sound very aggressive, with lots of grind and grit, perfect for heavy metal and prog rock. A similar tone to my Spector Euro LX with a non trim tone pump - it's a sound to behold. But I can't find any clips of them sounding deep and creamy smooth in a P bass kind of way. Can it lay back in a Motown kind of setting or is it just too aggressive for that?

Let's not abuse bicycle riders too much. The vast majority of them are fine. It's the few bozos that stick out like sore thumbs. Kinda like Audi drivers.

funny you mention that BIG deep PBass sound. Saw Garbage at the Fox last wednesday and the bass player played one all night. I could not believe how FAT his tone was. No backline or at least you couldn't see one but I never imagined a P could sound like that..

My wife spotted one of these little visitors the other day.

A Blue Wren, a happy little fella all dressed up in his mating plumage.

Clever too...

The '91 with Chinabuckers and tapes gets close to a P on 'roids sound. Dig in, and it does other stuff, too. I'm pretty much convinced those strings are going to stay on that bass for the next however long I keep breathing. The others are still a slight experiment.

The worst ones in Sydney are the courier riders. All the rest are fine, except for the visual pollution at cafes along there weekend routes.
I'm generally visual pollution in my motorcycle gear, plus the bulk of the armor means I take up more space. So, it all evens out. Or maybe not. I'm ALWAYS visual pollution.

I had one. I liked it but it wasn't getting played any more so I sold it. Very ballsy sound. If you care to see and hear it, go to 'Driftwoods of Treasure coast -Live' on yoot oob. Some of the amphitheater shots I'm playing through my 1970 Kasino 200W 2x15 amp. Others, a Kustom 1x15 R&P.
Will do

Right now “she’s” giving me fits. Touched the bridge anchor points and the E side pulled right out of the body. Super glue, well try again tomorrow

Dayum! I never had that problem. In fact the only problem I had was neckdive. My first Real bass was a Gibson EB-3, short scale, so the long neck kinda threw me.(It's a different balance than my NR TBird)
