With you there. I liked Sheer Heaet Attack, but they lost me with A Night at The Opera. Didn’t give them much notice after that. I appreciate them more now.

When I lived in Miami I got to be in a 6 piece Queen cover act. We did a show with a dance troup which choreographed a story to go with A Night at the Opera. We performed two nights at the Lincoln Theater on South Beach, was a really fun gig.
The performance unfortunately got panned by the local art press/Miami Herald, but the band got really good reviews. We had a choir for the backing vox, which was great esp for The Prophet and Rhapsody.
Been a Queen fan for 40+ years- not rabid, but enthusiastic...

Thought I loved queen... asked for the tape.... it was really just that song that I was into but as I got older I liked more and more of it.

The Herald had a critic named John Huddy. If he liked something, we'd skip it. If he panned it, we'd go and be entertained.

We had Robert Hilburn and a young Steve Pond at the LA Times. They were generally pretty reliable. If I recall correctly, Hilburn liked A Night At The Opera. Hilburn got me into Bowie, for which I’ve always been thankful.

Got a question...how come you see a lot of Fenderbirds but you never see a Thundercision or Thunderjazz? Won't their necks fit on Fender bodies? Or is it just because John Entwistle never had one?

Very clear and a little cold here today @42 degrees, I'm enjoying the new routine more and more, I hardly drive now!
If you're planning a trip up let me know, I'm always up for a beer or two - there's a house full of Thunderbirds as well!

But the body of a Thunderbird is sexier than any 7ender... that being said so is the headstock.... and neck.

Realistically, there’s a million companies producing 7ender style necks. I haven’t seen one that produces Thunderbird style necks.

I was never a Queen fan when they were popular, but I didn't object to their music. I would still not classify myself as a fan, but I do like their music much more now that I did then and listen far more regularly. Enough that I saw a tribute act recently. And it is fun to play. It takes a great singer to deliver however.

This is still a fave, and IMO underrated. Did it make the movie? I need to see that.

A bolt-on T-bird neck (Epi) could be mounted on a Fender body but the neck pocket would need work, just as a T-bird neck pocket would have to be routed to fit a Fender neck. (heals are different designs and widths) I make my own Jag/Jazzmaster-style bodies with bolt-on Epi T-bird necks and a variety of pu's - they work well.

I was looking for a bird neck and body a while back. Nobody seems to make them anymore.

They come up from time to time (used) on eBay.
