So, Gibson-ish question?
I'm picking up two used basses tomorrow, one is that 2013 Gibson TB, and the other is a 1976 Guild JSB2 (sort of a morphed SG bass shape and short-scale). I love the fact that I'm picking up a bass with my birth year and the other is my son's. But we'll see if they are keepers over the next few days.
Anyway, my question has to do with the JSB2, as I'm having problems finding much info on the bass (a couple threads on TB, but nothing really substantial), so thought I'd ask my Gibson-loving friends if they've ever managed to play one. Any idea what they actually sound like? The two mudbucker-esque pickups have me thinking that it will sound sort of similar to an EB-3, but I'm not too sure exactly what I'm getting myself into, and bought it simply because I've yet to run into a Guild instrument that I've disliked. Also confusing as apparently the JSB stands for Jetstar Bass, yet actual Jetstars have some weird Gumby body shape, though similar pickups, I think. Someone referenced it sounding like a short-scale jazz, which sounds intriguing, but I guess we'll see.
OK, I'm done with my Guild stuff; please don't hurt me.
