Interesting pup placement on the Rumblekat. Great price. Nice short scale. Unfortunately I can't get past the hofner type control plate, never liked that look.
The JC on the other hand, in gold top, looks especially interesting. Trying to find one to try out first.
I feel the same way about those rectangular plates.

I’d like to know more about what you’re referring to in regards to Epiphone and which early years you mean. I think it’s just one more added bonus for Gibson that may not have had deals with certain companies/distributors.

Sometimes it seems that manufactures give rights to distributors as long as they don’t sell the competitions product. Selling Epiphone wouldn’t have fallen under that Gibson category. I’ve been to music stores where there are no fender or Gibson. In that case a bigger more established company probably has the rights to the territory.

Still a good thought though. Hadn’t considered this angle at all.

From last night’s gig...

I'm usually pretty open minded and willing to give just about any bass design a try. But I just find that hofner control plate and also the oval bridge on Lakland basses to be a wart on the face of an otherwise nice bass.

I'm with you on both of those. Although if there was a spectacular tone or feel, I might overlook such blemishes.

Royal Blue looks pretty as well. Shipping in the new year.

I installed a set of Bass Burners on my BlackBird in time for this weeks gig. They sounded perfect on that bass. I have slowly started to add the Smith's back into the rotation after years of DR loyalty. Nothing wrong with DR IMO, but I had forgotten how much I liked the Smith strings. They are just impossible to find locally any more.

'String This' is my go to. Free ship on orders over $39. Great service and no tax. DR, Roto, D'Ad, and lots more. Quick shipping.

Sell it and get an Epi Allen Woody Rumblekat! Edit. Or a Jack Casady!

Forgot about the rumbleKat. What a sweet bass. Really light, nice to play. Cool tone - the cavern style pup placement is unique.

Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery IMHO. Less snootiness - more toughness. The most 'silly'/cartoonish JB era was Roger Moore, but all the "blue-hairs" loved him.

I grew up with the pierce brosnan bond - but back tracked to Connery & on. Roger Moore is my dad's favourite bond, cause it is pretty campy/60's tv show esque ala 1966 Batman. Daniel Craig is my bond of choice, but i do like almost every incarnation of Bond.

My Guess would be that Allen Woody was going for something 'classic' in terms of pup placement & control layout. It's pretty much a scaled down slimmer version of the Hofner President

I fancy it, but to each their own.

I have no experience with either of them but I’m a fan of both artists. I’ve read good things about both basses.

Both are pretty cool in their own voices. Think if i chose one it'd be the Rumblekat purely due to it's short scale. Some basses/shapes, to me should be short scale. Not long

This probably doesn't belong on this thread but does anyone use Hartke HyDrive cabs? I'm considering getting some and Putting a Ampeg PF800 on top. Probably a 210 on top of a 115.

I tested the 4x10 in a couple of shops and really liked them. Much more than the typical Hartke cabs. I never warmed up to those.

Thanks for the link! I had been using Just Strings but will try your source next.

That blue is a beauty! Unfortunately still can't find any in stock anywhere to try first.
The blue is being released in May, so you find stock of it anywhere. I suspect that the red anniversary is nearly sold out, so difficult to find. The gold top is the most likely to be found a the moment I expect.
